Nightwing 1-10

Story- Corpses are floating up the river from Bludhaven to Gotham City, 21 in all, all with their heads twisted the wrong way, and The Batman being busy enough with the crime in Gotham sends Nightwing(Dick Grayson) down to Bludhaven to try to get to the bottom of what's going on. Dick takes on the challenge to not only solve the murders, but also to get out of the shadow of Batman in Gotham. Upon arriving, Dick realizes that the murdered men were all a part of the same mafia and the don of the mafia hasn't been seen since the murders began. As he begins nosing around Bludhaven, he gains the ire of the police, who don't like the idea of a costumed vigilante running around their town and try to kill him. One cop, Inspector Soames, seems to take a shine to Dick and decides not to kill him but to feed him information to help him with his case. Dick continues to chase his tail trying to find out what is going on in Bludhaven, until he realizes it seems that another crime boss is muscling on the former mafia heads territory. Dick begins to look at it from this angle, and is continually fed small and often times useless amounts of information from Soames. Dick begins to suspect that Soames knows way more then he is letting on and begins to shake down the criminal element in Bludhaven, using Soames name in his interrogations. This finally bores fruit when he discovers that Soames is working closely with the new head of the Bludhaven mafia, a super strong villain named Blockbuster. Dick confronts Blockbuster and Soames, but is unable to defeat the far more powerful Blockbuster. Soames convinces Blockbuster to not murder Nightwing personally, fearing Nightwing's death would bring down the wraith of the Batman from Gotham. Instead, they hire a biker gang to finish off Nightwing. Unfortunately for Blockbuster, Dick manages to fight off the gang and survive the ordeal with proof of Blockbuster's powerplay in Bludhaven. Soames, still trying to kill Dick without incriminating himself or Blockbuster hires Scarecrow from Gotham, who after some initial success is defeated by Dick.

Overall- So far so good. I like the idea of a villain like Blockbuster being Nightwing's chief nemesis here, because with his massive strength and a corrupt police officer on his side, it won't be easy for Dick to take him out. The battle for Bludhaven between Nightwing and Blockbuster should be a long and bloody affair, which always makes for a good comic.
