Those Avengers...

One more day until New Comic Day, so that means one more filler post. Today we'll swing back to Marvel and I'll post a few of my favorite scenes from the awesomeness that was the West Coast Avengers. Why the West Coast Avengers? Why not?

Let's see, we have the happy, loving couple that were Hawkeye and Mockingbird.

Hawkeye showing how much respect he has for his mentor, Captain America.

Ultron using one of the best insults ever on Iron Man.

And finally, some heart-warming stuff between Ultron and his “father”, Hank Pym.

Study, study, study!

With a pretty big math test looming tomorrow, I won't be able to read any new comic books. That means no new reviews to post. Ah, but never fear, I've made sure to post at least something everyday since I started this blog, and today will be no exception. Here are some scans of my favorite insane mutant speedster, Quicksilver!

"Slime-sucking scum"?!? That's the best Hawkeye could come up with??? Besides Clint's classic insult, you've got to love Iron Man asking Quicksilver why he's turned evil. Like any good villain, Quicksilver is more than happy to stand around talking instead of, oh I don't know, KILLING HIS ENEMIES!Gee Iron Man, maybe calling Quicksilver crazy isn't the best way to defuse this situation...Ah the good old days, where the Avengers comics actually featured Avengers and the melodrama was through the roof!

Hawkeye, you're still married!

Clint Barton, ever the professional, starts to hit on Spider-Woman(Julia Carpenter)before she's even an official member of the West Coast Avengers. Besides that, he's still married! Legally separated my ass! I sure don't remember Clint and Bobbi getting legally separated!

U.S. Agent and Vision

I think this picture and the dialogue contained in it is WAY funnier than anything I could come up with to describe it. Ah, how I loved the West Coast Avengers...

Hank Pym and Ultron-12 (part 1)

I figured I'd post some pretty funny stuff involving Hank Pym and Ultron
Not many people would be dumb enough to agree to meet with Ultron alone, and without telling any of their teammates. Well, besides Hank Pym that is.
Awww, how nice. Ultron doesn't want to kill Pym, he just wants to have a heart to heart conversation with him.
I love how dramatic Pym is here!

No Ultron, it isn't an easy concept to swallow that your only "offspring" will be a homicidal robot...

Hank Pym and Ultron-12 (part 2)

Umm, could Pym be anymore dramatic here? I love Pym's thought process here.
What will Pym do???
This is probably one of my all-time favorite pictures right here. The fact that Ultron is hugging Pym is crazy enough, but Pym's thoughts about Ultron's face cracks me up every time!
So, now Ultron-12 is Pym's son...
Believe it or not, it only gets weirder from here!

Hank Pym and Ultron-12 (part 3)

What exactly does Ultron mean when he tells Pym he just might be a "grandfather" someday???
Yeah, you sucked as a husband Pym. Is it just me or is this whole situation just really bizarre?
When did this comic book suddenly become an episode of Dr. Phil???
How observant of you Pym. Yes, there are 2 Ultrons.
"What kind of Ultron are you, Twelve?". "An Ultron who loves his father!"??? BWA-HA-HA-HA!!!

Hank Pym and Ultron-12 (part 4)

Ultron-11 sure doesn't like Ultron-12.
Well, that's one way to deal with Ultron-12... I love Pym's horrified reaction on the ground.
So, Ultron-12 manages to put his head back on(the wrong way!)and with the help of Wonder Man and Pym, Ultron-12 manages to destroy Ultron-11, but not without a heavy toll.
I think this may qualify for the most dramatic robot death I have EVER read!
Speaking of dramatic! These are some of the funniest lines I have ever read! Can you imagine what Wonder Man must be thinking? He must think he's on Bizzaro World! Hank Pym crying over the "dead" body of an Ultron... Madness!

Hank Pym and Ultron-12 (part 5)

This was Pym's reaction to the "death" of his "son", Ultron Mark 12.
So, Pym has been divorced by his wife, disgraced himself in front of his Avenger teammates, and lost his "son", the formerly homicidal robot, Ultron Mark 12. What does he decide to do after all of this happens to him? Commit suicide of course! The best part is how logical he makes the whole thing seem. Boy, what a great lesson for all the kids out there! When the going gets tough, kill yourself!
Pym comes close to doing the deed, but in the end, he decides not to pull the trigger(mainly thanks to the intervention of Firebird). Now, I know that I shouldn't have been laughing throughout the entire redemption/death of Ultron Mark 12, but I just couldn't help myself! Some of the dialogue, especially between Pym and his "son", is just so ridiculous, it's actually funny! These scans are just another reason I get such a kick out of Hank Pym. The guy is easily one of the smartest people in the Marvel Universe, but mentally Pym is a basket case! Oh well, hopefully someone out there will have a sense of humor as warped as I do and find some of these scans entertaining.

The Death of Mockingbird.(If you haven't read Secret Invasion #8, skip this post!)

As promised yesterday, here are some scans from West Coast Avengers #100, featuring the death of Mockingbird, Bobbi Morse Barton.

So, there you have it. Mockingbird died a heroic death, saving the man she loved. At no point did her dead body transform into a Skrull's body, which means that the person who was killed by Mephisto was indeed the true Bobbi Barton, not a Skrull. Now, I can't wait to see how Brian Bendis writes his way around the indisputable evidence presented in these panels. Remember, not only did Bobbi die here, but she has made at least 4 appearances from the afterlife since her death. Once again, I'm dying to see how Bendis is going to explain all of this away...

Creepy Weird...

If the thought of the Grim Reaper and Nekra getting busy doesn't sicken you in the slightest, there is probably something wrong with you! I do like the little pillow Reaper set up for his scythe. It's an inanimate object, why the hell does Reaper feel the need to put it on a pillow? It's strange little things like that I really get a kick out of.

Hawkeye, Husband of the Year.

I figured I'd post some more Clint Barton goodness. It's stuff like this that reminds me just what I used to love about Clint.
