Titans #1

I think that since I've been buying this comic series since its inception, and it's already up to #6, maybe I should begin to read them... On with the show!

Overall- As far as a set up issue goes, this one was pretty good. The events from this issue actually spring out of the Titans East Special #1. Apparently, somebody is trying to systematically destroy everybody who ever considered themselves a Titan, Teen, or otherwise.

After the slaughter of the Titans East, which was led by Cyborg, the other original members of the Teen Titans found themselves under attack by very powerful forces. Not only were they under attack, they were being attacked in places the attackers shouldn't have known about. For example, Nightwing was attacked in a safe house in Gotham City that basically, only a very small handful of people were aware of. While Donna Troy was attacked in outer space.

So, whoever the attacker was, not only had a grudge against all Titans, past and present, they also had enough power to attack them from practically anywhere, be it on Earth or otherwise. After hearing about what happened to Cyborg and the Titan East, Nightwing, Flash, Beast Boy, Starfire, Donna Troy, Raven and Red Arrow, meet to compare notes on their attacks, and wind up coming to the same conclusion. The only being powerful enough to set these attacks into motion would have to be Trigon, Raven's demonic father. Trigon would have the power, knowledge and motive to attack all of the Titans. With this information, the former Titans have to decide exactly what they will do next.

All in all, I was pleased with this comic. It was obviously a set up comic, meaning the writer, Judd Winick, was trying to put his plans for the future of this comic in motion. There were a lot of small plot holes and we didn't get to see how most of the Titans survived their various life or death situations, but this was a solid comic that deserves a solid score, so, I'll give it a 7 out of 10.
