Damn you and your spoilers DC!!!

I was very happily reading Green Lantern Corps #35 when I came across an advertisement for some action figures based on the upcoming "Blackest Night" event. Smack dab in the middle of the ad is Black Lantern member Earth-2 Superman. Now, that's all fine and good, except for the fact that Earth-2 Superman hasn't been revealed as a Black Lantern yet! What the hell, DC? I'm usually pretty careful about avoiding spoilers and I have to say I'm a bit miffed that a frigging toy advertisement contained a major spoiler like that! Well, besides that, I have to say the Atrocitus action figure in the ad looked pretty cool. I don't normally collect action figures, but I may just have a spot near my television set for that figure.

  1. I wouldn't worry about gleening to much information from the add. From what I understand, the power of the 'Black' is that it can pull anyone back from the abyss into it's service. From what I've read, the Martian Manhunter and others will be involved also. I think your Superman 'sighting' is just the tip of the iceburg.

  2. Well, I do expect some major dead characters such as the Martian Manhunter and hopefully Superboy to reappear during the Blackest Night x-over, personally I wouldn't have minded if DC would have put one of those characters in the ad since just about everybody is expecting them to show up during Blackest Night. My problem is that I would have been legitimately surprised when Earth-2 Superman popped up during Blackest Night because I had completely forgotten about him. Now when E-2 Supes shows up the shock factor is going to be completely gone.

Yes, this is all kind of trivial, but I'm pretty obsessive about avoiding spoilers. I didn't even go online or read any newspapers for a few days until I read Final Crisis #7 a few months back because I was afraid something would ruin that comic on me like CNN ruined Captain America #25 on me a few years back!

  3. Good eye, X. I try to skip over all the ads myself. Read Blackest Night #0 over the weekend and it was great. I'm expecting exciting things from this event.

  4. You know Yedna, normally I completely bypass the ads in the comics I read too, but something about that ad caught my eye(probably the fact that it said "Blackest Night" in big letters!).

Out of all the free comics to come out Sat. Blackest Night #0 is the one I most want to get my hands on. I can't wait for Blackest Night to get underway! Out of the MANY crossovers to come out the past few years I may be looking the most forward to BC.
