Nightwing #67

Overall- This issue deals with the fire at Lockhaven penitentiary, as well as the escape of three of Nightwing's rogues. Torque, Nite-Wing and Shrike manage to escape the burning prison, with Torque and Nite-Wing working in unison, while Shrike makes his escape unaided.

Nightwing has to deal with the man-monster who inadvertently started the fire at the prison, Amygdala. While, Dick has speed and intelligence on Amygdala, the big guy is way more powerful then Dick, and prone to severe mood swings.

Dick mainly tries to reason with Amygdala, but when reasoning fails, Dick tries to subdue him with force... Bad move. Amygdala winds up nearly breaking Dick's ribs, and almost kills Dick by flinging him into a wall. Luckily for Dick, Amygdala has a mood swing which causes him to feel badly for possibly killing Dick. After a good cry, Amygdala falls asleep and Dick is able to restrain him.

That was the issue in a nut shell. Personally, I wasn't to fond of this issue, mainly thanks to the kind of ridiculous way Amygdala was defeated... He cried himself to sleep?!?!?! Not my idea of a great end to a battle. As for a score, I'd give this issue a 4 1/2 out of 10.

Robin, Caring Friend or Jerk?

Awww... Superboy and Wonder Girl... They made a really nice couple.
Robin and Wonder Girl on the other hand always kind of creeped me out... Superboy was barely cold in the ground, and Robin and Wonder Girl were already in each others arms. I get they were in mourning and all, but still, come on! To top it off, Robin is making out with her while wearing Superboy's colors!

Nightwing #66

Overall- This issue is part 9 of Bruce Wayne:Murderer?. My questions are how did we get from part 3 last issue, and how many parts were there to this story! Anyway, Dick continues to run around Gotham in search for somebody with an axe to grind against Bruce Wayne/Batman. Barbara continues to point him at potential suspects, but each suspect reveals no true motivation for the frame up. After conferring with Babs, Dick realizes there is big trouble back home in Bludhaven with the fire at Lockhaven penitentiary, and rushes back to the 'haven.

Dick bypasses the guards, and upon arriving in the prison, is confronted by Amygdala, who without his medication is pretty much out of his mind. Dick realizes to save the burning cons, he has to go through the extremely angry and super strong maniac, Amygdala.

Another good issue, one that has me curious enough to see if I can find the rest of the BW:Murderer? storyline cheap somewhere. I doubt it, Batman comics for the most part are a tad too expensive for my blood(that's why I wound up buying Nightwing's series instead). As for a score, another solid 7 out of 10 will do here.

Nightwing #65

Overall- Yay, another crossover.... Sarcasm doesn't really come across well over the computer does it? Bruce Wayne has been accused of shooting a radio host to death. Now, we know Bruce would never do that, because #1 he hates guns and #2, he's Batman.

But, Bruce being Bruce refuses help offered by Dick when he stops by Gotham to visit Bruce in his holding cell. Dick realizes he's going to have to help Bats, without any help from Bats himself, and contacts Barbara Gordon to help out on the case. They realize that it must be Batman, not Bruce Wayne who is the target of this frame job, so they put their heads together to figure out how many people know about Bruce's duel identity, and which of those people would want to frame him for a murder.

The rest of this issue deals with Torque and Nite-Wing starting their plans to escape from Bludhaven penitentiary. They cause a huge commotion, as well as a fire, and decide to try to slip out in the confusion.

Overall, I liked this issue, even though I don't know how the cops Dick works with can have no clue he's the adopted son of Bruce Wayne... No wonder crime is so rampant in the 'haven, the cops are idiots!

For a score, even though I only have the Nightwing issues of this crossover, I'll give this comic a 7 out of 10, because although this was a crossover, the writer(Chuck Dixon) went to great lengths to explain what was going on in the other connected comics, which helped out alot.

Blasted School Work!

As the college semester begins to wind down, the amount of school work begins to ratcheted up, and my comic book reading always suffers! For example, I have a 6 page Technical Writing Report due by the end of the term. As the topic for my report, I'm going to try to use comic book collecting! When the professor was asking for ideas in class last week, I threw out the idea of a paper on comic collecting and he seemed receptive to the idea.

So, I've written up what I'd base the paper on, and hopefully, with my fingers crossed, he'll approve the topic tomorrow. I could write a paper on comic collecting in my sleep!!! If that doesn't pan out though, I'll have to write a report on some agonizingly boring subject... Here's hoping I can parlay my knowledge of comic books into a paper I can't imagine I'd get less then an "A+" on!

Green Arrow (series 2[?]) #33

Overall- I really enjoyed this comic book. I guess that's no surprise, because I really like the characters of Oliver Queen and Roy Harper. This comic deals with Ollie and Roy's last mission together, while Roy was still Speedy, after the whole Roy/heroin issue. Man, was Roy pissed at Ollie during this mission, and rightfully so. After Roy and Ollie beat the bad guy's, Roy quits their partnership, and out of spite, Ollie blows up the Arrowcar(God, do I love that name!).

Anyway, in the present, Mia, alerts Ollie to the fact that someone is claiming to have the Arrowcar, and is selling it on an online auction. Ollie acts like he doesn't care, but he does some detective work and finds out that it is really the Arrowcar. Mia and some f-list villain named the Scavenger both bid on the Arrowcar, but they both lose out to a certain Bat-billionaire from Gotham City.

Bats, of course leaves the Arrowcar for Ollie, and as Ollie and Mia go to pick it up, Scavenger attacks. Scavenger, being an f-level villain is defeated in quick order, and Ollie drives the Arrowcar home... or not. The Arrowcar breaks down, and rather then allowing it to fall into the wrong hands, Ollie blows it up, this time for good. After returning home, Ollie gives Roy a call to reminisce about the Arrowcar, as well as the better times he had with Roy.

As always, I loved the interaction between Roy and Ollie, especially after Roy kicking his heroin addiction, with no help from Ollie. Roy was just nasty to Ollie, and deep down, Ollie knew he deserved Roy's wraith. The relationship between Ollie and Roy is one of the deepest and multifaceted ones in all of comic books, and whenever it is explored, I am very happy. This comic gets a 7 1/2 out of 10 from me.

Final Crisis:Revelations #2

Overall- I'm still a little lost here, but at least some of the things going on here are coming into focus. The Spectre is prevented from killing the Question, by Radiant(?) God's spirit of mercy.

Meanwhile, the Order of the Stone stabs Vandal Savage with a magical spear, which somehow transforms him into Cain, the God of the Order. Cain declares to his followers that he will now kill the Spectre.

As the Spectre and Radiant debate the Question's fate, the anti-life equation is unleashed upon the Earth, and the three are attacked by Darkseid's slaves. Radiant manages to get Question out of harms way, but Question is soon attacked by her one time lover, Batwoman, who has been overtaken by the anti-life equation.

Like I said, things were coming together in this comic, but I was still confused about some of the story. I imagine that everything will be answered shortly... One quick thought though, how the hell did Vandal Savage have a working laptop on an island in the middle of nowhere!?!?! Anyway, this issue warrants a 5 out of 10 again.

Ahhh, the 80's...

Sorry about the lousy picture quality, but anyone who doesn't appreciate Roy Harper's(Red Arrow) fashion sense is CRAZY! In case you can't tell, I'm being VERY sarcastic. Seriously though, did people really dress like THAT in the 80's?!?! Just take a moment to take it all in... Now, I'm no fashion snob, I basically walk around in a t-shirt and jeans year round, but Roy's outfit is just plain hideous! Cheshire isn't looking much better...
