Thunderbolts #145

Thunderbolts #145: Writer: Jeff Parker. Artist: Kev Walker.

Review: Picking up from last issue, Baron Zemo tries to bring the Thunderbolts back under his control after knocking out Luke Cage, Mach V and Songbird. Crossbones gleefully joins up with the Baron, while Juggernaut decides to just leave the island. Moonstone tries to stop Zemo, and Ghost reveals that the whole thing was a set-up to test the loyalty of the T-bolts. With their cover blown, Cage and company get up and Zemo takes off his mask, revealing that he was actually the Fixer. After picking up the Juggernaut(who was stuck in the water), Cage explains that he wanted to see how the team would react, as well as show them that he was always in control of things, even when it seemed like he wasn't. With that bit of business out of the way, Luke tells the team that they'd be hunting down some Asgardian trolls that had escaped from Asgard after Siege. The team heads out to catch the trolls, and discover that the trolls were more of a handful then they thought. This issue ends with a girl wearing what seemed to be a dead troll attacking Ghost.

What I Thought: Not bad. I was a bit miffed by the Fixer reveal, especially since it seems that the Fixer had returned to his evil roots with the real Baron Zemo in Captain America. That little gaff aside, I really can't complain about this issue all that much. The reveal at the end didn't really do anything for me, and the story was alright. No complaints here. Move along.

Score: 7 out of 10.Why does Juggy look like a giant brick now?

  1. I knew that Baron Zemo thing was a total cop out. That's like superhero plot device 101.

    Why does Juggy get stuck?

Thanks X-man, it may be a while before I can get my hands on this (or any other)book.

  2. The Zemo thing bugged me because Zemo and Fixer are currently attacking Bucky over in Captain America... It would be nice if Ed Brubaker and Jeff Parker would have gotten together to talk about their two storylines... Fixer REALLY shouldn't have been in this issue!

The explaination for Juggy getting stuck in the drink was something like he needs to breath now, either because he was touched by the Captain Universe powers, or because Cytorak is angry with him and as such is reducing Juggy's powers again.

No problemo, happy to help Kello!
