Justice League: Generation Lost #3

Justice League: Generation Lost #3: Writers: Judd Winick and Keith Giffen. Pencils: Fernando Dagnino
Last Issue: 9 out of 10.

Review: We open things up with Fire heading to the base of the Checkmate organization and demanding to know why she was thrown out of Checkmate. The Black King of Checkmate(think the Hellfire Club I guess)tells Fire that she was let go because she failed two psychological fitness exams. Fire tries to convince the Black King that Max Lord doctored her records, but since nobody remembers Max Lord, she continues to look loco. Eventually, Max Lord himself shows up and taunts Fire, before running back into the Checkmate compound. Needless to say, Fire doesn't take kindly to THAT, and chases after Max, with a small army of Checkmate soldiers trying to capture her. Eventually Fire catches Max, who reveals that he was just playing with her head and that he was never there, and Fire realizes that she was torching an innocent Checkmate agent. Realizing that she was in some VERY hot water, and wouldn't be able to talk her way out of this one, Fire vacates the premises. From there we head to... *sigh* El Paso, Texas, where we find the fake Blue Beetle fighting off an army of OMACs. Fake Beetle is helped out by Booster Gold, Captain Atom and Ice, but the heroes(and Fake Beetle)are unable to defeat the OMACs, that is until the Fake Beetle manages to apprehend several dozen OMACs with magnetism?!? Okay, that does it. Review over.

What I Thought: Sorry, that's absolute nonsense, and I REFUSE to finish this review. This comic was okay until Super-Fake Beetle managed to squash a BATTALION of OMACs!!! What the HELL is THAT all about!? Jesus, I can remember when a single OMAC was able to take on and defeat Firestorm, Cyborg, as well as giving characters like Superman a run for his money, but Super-Fake Beetle can just wave his hands at them and beat them all? So what is Bruce Wayne, the world's biggest jackass or something? It's my understanding that Bruce(and then Brother I and Max Lord)designed the OMACs to be able to scan, study and then counteract whatever super-power they came in contact with. Am I supposed to believe that when Bruce began the OMAC Project he NEVER took Dr. Polaris into account(since Super-Fake Beetle defeated all of the OMACs with magnetism, and Polaris is DC's master of magnetism?)? What a load of crap. I'd better stop this review before things start to get R-rated here...

Score: 3 out of 10.Never fear, Super-Fake Beetle is here.........

  1. Lmao.... You know what. If I'd taken that into account I'd have not given this a ten because you have a good point. A damn good point because that really doesn't make sense. BUT, since that didn't come to mind when I reviewed it I'll stand by my rating but I see what you mean on that.

Also to further ruin your day, rumor is they'll be a live action Blue Beetle TV Series starring Hai-Me Reyes, by way of Geoff Johns...

  2. All I have to say to GEOFF and the braintrust at DC is this: You Maniacs! You ruined it all!!! Damn you! God damn you all to hell!!!! The movie buff in you MUST be able to get that one!

  3. Lmao Planet of the Apes reference. I love that you used that because it's the best quote ever. Yeah um... that series is gonna be something...

  4. "Yeah um... that series is gonna be something..." Something HORRIBLE!!!

So what's the over/under of it getting cancelled? I say five episodes and it's gone.

  5. Lol something horrible indeed. So, you ever gonna finish Gen Lost 3 or you just moving onto Gen Lost 4?

Depends, if it's on Cartoon Network or some crap I give it a season, If it's trying to be Smallville or something I give it half a season, so yeah 6,7 episodes or something.

  6. I finished reading it, but as I tried to type out the review, I was just too pissed off to finish the review, but yeah, I finished the comic itself. Just not the review.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. Man, if that series really happens, I hope that it bombs like crazy! Yup, here's yet another reason Marvel>DC nowadays...

  7. Lol so besides all the "Hai-me the Omac Destroyer!" stuff what'd you think about it?

Yeah I don't know why Hai-Me is supposed to be interesting enough for his own show when you could easily do another Flash Show, there's a new Green Arrow cartoon coming out, Young Justice, why not Flash or Green Arrow or someone.

  8. I was honestly enjoying this comic until Super-Hai-Me ruined everything for me... THat was SO unforgivable to me though it really brought down everything else about this book.

Hmm, I wonder when DC is going to realize that with the exception of Supes and Bats they don't have the characters who really fit well on the big screen. That's probably the main difference between DC and Marvel(and I don't care if I take a lot of flak for saying this, 'cause I truly believe it), Marvel's Silver Age characters(you know, from the 1960's-early 1970's)are WAAAAAAAAAY more interesting/well thought out then the DC heroes of the same era. You know, I should just do a Let's Talk About post about this fact one day and piss off every DC fanboy in sight! :P

  9. Yeah dude, like I said earlier, had I even thought of that OMAC thing I'd agree with ya but It never even crossed my mind. I can see your point though.

Lmao I'd agree, I'd say DC can do Supes, Bats, WW, Flash, Lantern, Green Arrow...Maybe Canary. And The Titans, that's about it. Marvel has Wolverine, The X-Men, Spidey, Hulk, Daredevil, Elektra, Deadpool, Cap, Ironman, Punisher and so many more...

  10. Dude, agreeing with me is going to get your DCU card taken away! :P I was trying to be a jerk! If you agree with my jerky comments, they lose their... um, jerkiness! :D

  11. Lol I think I may get my DCU card taken away anyway after the comments on my blog...lmao.

So this is it eh, Marvel vs. DC. I Shan't let down my team, and somehow I always knew it would come to this...Bwahahahah! (And that's how my dialogue would be written if this was a crappy tv show)

    ReplyDelete
  12. HA!! I guess that's true! Soon the GOD of the DCU, GEOFFY JOHNS will come down from the heavens and strike you down for your blasphamy!

What's so crappy about that dialogue? That's how I speak normally! :D

  13. Lol Blasphemy!!!! So I think I'm gonna wait and put up a new poll this weekend instead of doing one this week, so our poll gets the attention of everyone.

Lol in THAT case, what would you say as a retort :P

  14. You could easily do a Martian Manhunter one - it's a buddy cop movie, except one of them's an alien!

Aquaman - underwater terrorist or monarch defending his lands? Sympathetic bad guy story by way of starting a franchise.

Huntress - woman with a similiar origin to Batman, but trying to get out of his shadow (though I suppose that's a spin-off)

Magog - anti-hero who does stuff that cause big moral debates over whether he's doing the right thing or not (and not the junk written by Kieth Giffen)...

Punisher - man gets hit in crotch by Molly Hayes for an hour and a half.
Is declared genius and brings about world peace.

  15. 'Tis indeed Marvel vs DC fair JT! Thou has't taken up a cause most foul, and as such shall be smited(!?)for your transgression... Okay, that's MORE then enough of THAT! :P

Well, I'd watch the Huntress and Magog movies, and POSSIBLY the Punisher one, depending on who plays Punny, Nagash! :D

    ReplyDelete
  16. Um... What X? Lol Ya lost me X-Speare. I could see the Aquaman movie being good, I don't think enough people know of Huntress to directly tie her to Batman and if anyone should get a movie from the Batfamily it should definitely be Nightwing in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I WOULD pay good money to watch Stalone getting kicked in the crotch for two hours Nagash! Good call!

"X-Speare" I REALLY like that... I have GOT to work that into a post some day!

Eh, I like Nightwing(as we ALL know by now!), but I think the Huntress movie could tell a REALLY good story, even without the Batman link. As for not many people knowing Huntress, I'd say as many people know Huntress as they know Jonah Hex, so if DC was willing to greenlight a Hex movie, then why not a Huntress one?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Good point, and as we know, the Jonah Hex movie did HORRIBLY at the Box Office so I think that proves my point. BLAM! Lol but really, it's not that I'm against a Huntress Movie, I just think it wouldn't make much cash and that'd tarnish her more than help her.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Eh, I still say Huntress is a much more interesting character then Jonah Hex, and if the script was strong enough, a Huntress movie could be a moderate success. Not a blockbuster, but a profit-turner.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I agree she's more interesting than Jonah Hex, much more, but considering the only big name films to come out of DC are Watchmen, Supes and Batman, unless you tie Huntress in with that by having her appear in Batman or something I doubt she'd have a successful movie.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah, I can def see your point, but if Marvel can get Hulk over with moviegoers thanks to a decent story and a smart acting decision, I don't see why Huntress couldn't work. That's not to say Huntress is in Hulk's area popularity-wise, but before the most recent Hulk movie, Hulk wasn't a big seller for Marvel. It was after that movie Hulk bagan to sell. All you need is a good story, great reviews and a smart choice of actress for Huntress, and I think you could get by without adding Bats.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'll give you that. I just can't see them setting her in Gotham without Batman appearing or being mentioned. I'd rather see a Birds of Prey film to be honest, but I'd watch a Huntress film if it fit the criteria you mentioned.
