It's a new day!

Hey gents and gentettes, after taking a (in my opinion!)well deserved break from blogging, I'm back with a rambling post. First off, I didn't go to ANY blogs Friday and Saturday, I just completely disassociated myself from the whole blogging world, and I think that did me a whole lot of good. Sometimes the best way to recharge ones batteries is to take a step back, and I think that's something I've been needing to do around here for a while now. With that said, let me just come right out and say this, I sure as HELL won't be going back to my old insane schedule of posting upwards of 4 new reviews a night! Although I won't be blogging at that rate anymore, I think I can handle posting 3 or 4 times a week. That'll give me some down time, as well as more time to check out what my fellow bloggers have been diligently working on, which is what I'll be doing once I publish this post! I can't wait to see what I've been missing!

I think the scan blog is going to suffer the most now that I've decided to take a bit of a blogging breather, and by suffer, what I really mean is die a cold, lonely, quiet death! Yep, I don't see myself doing much of anything over at the pic blog any time soon... Yeah, it's kind of sad, but the payoff for the scan site doesn't match the work I put into it. So until further notice, rest in peace Uncanny Comic Book Scans... You WON'T be missed! :D

Okay, now onto the comic front... Since I didn't do any blog related things for the past few days, I have FINALLY managed to read EVERYTHING in my new comics pile!!! For the first time in months(years??)my nightstand is free of unread recent comic books! Granted, I still have a plethora of back issues to get through, but I can read those at my leisure. The new book pile was like the sword of Damocles hanging over my head, and it's finally gone. Speaking of the aforementioned back issues, I've read up to Robin #47 as I continue trudging through the entire Robin series. So far it's been pretty good stuff. Nothing spectacular, but definitely pretty good.

Before going, some AWESOME news... Today, I FOUND A COMIC BOOK SHOP IN MY AREA!!! A real, live, honest to god comic book shop! And no more then 10 minutes away from my place! Seeing as that I hadn't stepped foot in a comic book shop in over 5 years(since I've been living in Binghamton)it was as if I had died and gone to heaven! I spent an INSANE amount of money on back issues(I'll just say over $100 and leave it at that...), and after speaking to the owner of the shop, I learned that they do the whole weekly pull list thing! So I gave him a list, and I'll now be able to get all of my non-subscription titles the DAY they come out! No more waiting days/weeks to read a new comic for me anymore! Well, except for the titles I have subscribed to through Marvel and DC's subscription services... I REALLY wish I could just cancel those subscriptions now... Anyway, I managed to snag Detective Comics #866, Thunderbolts #145, Zatanna #2 and Justice League: Gen Lost #4, so if anybody has a strong urge to discuss one of those comics, let me know and I'll throw up a post sometime over the course of the next few days. You know, I have to say, I've enjoyed doing this post WAY more then those monotonous reviews I've been doing day upon day for years now... I've got to try to do more stream of consciousness type posts. Anyway, I think that'll do it for me tonight, I've got a lot of blogs to do some catch up reading on. Thanks for reading, X out.

  1. X, welcome back from your break! NOW GET BACK TO WORK! (Just joking, I swear!)

First, which is actually last, is that I think I like your new sign off more than I liked your previous two sign-offs put together.

Next, congrats on finding that comic book shop! No longer will you (and by you, I mean we) have to suffer from America's horrible delievry service. One day we will find out where all our lost packages (and left socks) are ending up at.

Last, but not least, is your review list. I am seriously interested in Justice League, Lost Generation. I know that you hate the Blue Beetle, but you should really give him a chance. Ted Kord is gone, and Jamie is a decent successor who will grow better as the years go by. Now, it's granted that some of the writers take artistic use over the scarabs powers. But, in their defense, the scarab power is ment to be challenging to a Green Lantern's ring.
    L8r days!

  2. By the way, be sure to check out http://www.the-gutters.com/ as Sommer seems to have the same opinion you do in regards to some of the recent comics series that are coming out.

    But seriously...Dracula....WTF?!

  3. That first paragraph had me laughing Cole! And I kind of like that sign off too... It's simple, yet effective. I think it may be a keeper.

Ah, so you want to read a scathing review on Gen Lost #4, do you? Well, if that's what you want... :P There are just some characters that automatically annoy me... X-23, the Jamie Beetle, The Mad Hatter, whenever I see them, it just puts me in a foul mood. I'll TRY to rein in my Jamie-hate, but I don't know, that might be tough...

I loved that web-comic! To be perfectly honest with you, I'm actually surprised it's taken Marvel THIS long to try to cash in on the whole recent vampire craze. With that said, it goes without saying that I'll be picking up the upcoming Dracula/death comic... Yes, I AM a sucker...

I second a review on Gen Lost, as well as Detective Comics and Croc whenever you read those because I'm very interested in what ya think of those. And welcome back, JT out! :P Kidding, kidding.

  5. Welcome back X!!! I must admit I did miss you like crazy. :D

I'm glad you're back and that you feeling more upbeat and on a positive note.

I'm sad to see the Scan blog go, BUT, you have to do what you have to do.

Glad you found that comic shop close to home, now if we don't hear from you after a few days, we'll know where you're new hang out spot is!!! Don't desert us!!

I'm with with everyone with a review for Generation Lost. Lol, I would love a review on Zatanna but if I'm the only one wanting it don't you dare try and do a review just to make me happy. Lol. I'll just try my hardest to think like you after reading the issues. Lol.

With that said, later dude!!! :)

  6. Glad you're back, X-Man! I think it's a good idea that you're changing up your approach to the blog...whatever you gotta do to keep on enjoying yourself!

Also happy you've found a nearby comic shop. Digging through back issues is my favorite thing to do at comic shops as well, so I'm really curious about what you dropped all that money on!

  7. Thanks X! Sometimes people take my sarcasism the wrong way, and I was actually worried that I messed it up, but I'm glad to hear that I hit the bullseye this time! I also second the Zanatta review, but I felt selfish asking for more than one.

In regards to Gutters, are you going to start following it regularly? Cause I think that would be awesome. I mean, you are catching them at the beginning, so it's not like it's going to take a month for you to read back issues/stripes. Speaking of such, do you follow any other online comies regularly?

    L8r days!

  8. Welcome back, X-Man. Your presence was truly missed. You're "the straw that stirs the drink" around here among all these blogs.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed writing your post. I'm starting to see that the whole "suggest which title I should review" means that you're going to get suggestions for all of them, because I want to know about Thunderbolts! I guess it's why your so popular, X-Man, you have something for everybody.

Man, nothing beats the feeling of having a local shop! I'm happy for you my friend. When I went home to MI, I went to all the shops at least twice, and that was just because I could. And as far buying a lot back issues, I bought a huge stack over Chirstmas break. When the clerk told me the total, I insuated that he added wrong, because I was so taken over by comic lust that I just kept piling them up without thinking. Bad math skills + Greed= Embarassed fanboy.

And of course, R.I.P. Uncanny Comic Book Scans. You brought a smile to many with your scans about the ambiguously gay nature of the relationship between Batman and Robin.

  9. Thanks for all of the kind words guys. I had to laugh after checking out these comments earlier, because it seems like EVERY one of the comics I mentioned got at least one recommendation! And yes, I will be putting up reviews for each one of those books... I can't let any of my X-Maniacs down! :D

As for being the straw that stirs the drink, you flatter me Kello! I actually think it's the other way around. All of you guys who have taken the time to comment are really the ones who add some much needed color to this dreary little blog. I'm just the weird guy who posts shoddy reviews, it's all of you who keep things intresting!
