(As a note, you should probably check out THIS post first for an explanation of what's going on here)
The first review of the week is none other than this week's Pick of the Litter, Captain America and Hawkeye. With a title like that, how CAN'T that be this week's Pick?! Anyway, this is the first review I'll be doing from work, so I won't be able to add a scan or get too in depth with the review, as I'm going by memory since the comic books are at home right now... So in other words, this should be a real mess!
Captain America and Hawkeye #630:
Story Points:
-Cap and Hawkeye battle symbiote-possessed dinosaur people(really...)
-The two wind up getting separated when Hawkeye tries to take some heat off of Cap with an explosive arrow.
-Cap bumps into the leader of the dinosaurs, some goof named... um, Stegon(or something, I'm doing this from memory!). Stegon(or whatever his name is) tries to convince Cap that he was doing something righteous by mutating people into dinosaurs or something...
-Hawkeye bumbles around the depths of the caverns, using his stealth to remain unnoticed.
-This issue ends with Cap, now possessed by the dinosaur symbiote stuff, attacking poor Hawkeye.
Thoughts: Eh, I didn't enjoy this issue nearly as much as the prior one. The thing I loved about the last issue was the spot on dialogue, here, Cap and Clint were barely together, so that awesome banter was nowhere to be found. Other then that, the story isn't that gripping, what with Stegon(or whatever his name is) making symbiote dinosaurs and the research company secretly being up to no good(to the shock of nobody!)... So while this issue wasn't awful, it wasn't great either...
Score: 7 1/2 out of 10.

I felt the same exact way man! wasn't terrible but wasn't too original and them being separated made it worse. The reveal was nothing original so right now I am waiting to find something that justifies buying this comic. Hope it gets better!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize how much of the last comic was made by Hawkeye and Cap's banter... Without that, this comic really suffered. Oh well, like you said, hopefully it gets better.
