Hey blog readers, JT here with a quick post on a few things I wanted to mention and inform you guys on.
Numero Uno, as you guys know, our good buddy X has burned himself out due to doing a ton of reviews, a ton of comments and working a crazy ass Vampire schedule. Due to that, I told him I'd help out here more so the blog doesn't get stagnant, he doesn't overwork himself, and you guys have something new to read/discuss. I'll be back later on tonight (Friday) with a review for the Batman Annual and tomorrow with a review of the Amazing Spider-Man Annual. That leaves us with pretty much nothing from me on Sunday-Wednesday since I only grabbed three books this week, so if X doesn't wanna review America's Got Powers, I'll do that as well, just wanted to let you guys know what to expect.
Secondly, I know a few people were worried that Rick Remender is leaving Venom soon and Cullen Bunn will be taking over, it appears the book is in good hands according to a recent tweet by Remender himself. "Remender: Just finished reading @cullenbunn 's first solo issue of Venom. It's smart, insane and everything I love in comics. Book is in great hands."
Now that all that stuff is out of the way, I can post the thing I REALLY wanted to tell you about, the upcoming fighting game featuring DC Comics Heroes and Villains!!!!! That's right, there's a game coming out next year starring all DC Comics characters including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy and more, and you can see the first trailer below and read more here. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (PS3)
Now it's time for something COMPLETELY different... Normally I review comic books on this blog. However, last month I did my first non-comic book review, which was a review of the Batman: Under the Red Hood DVD. Since then I've reviewed two additional movies in Captain America and Thor. So as you can see, I've been branching out a bit from only doing comic book reviews. That's basically what this post is all about, branching out even further. Earlier today, I received my copy of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and decided, “What the hell, I might as well review THIS too!” Now, I've only spent about 3 hours or so playing this game(with an hour of that just fooling around in training mode), so needless to say, I still have way more to do, but I think I have a good enough feel for the game to at least throw together some thoughts on the game itself as well as what I liked and disliked. So there we go. Now, let's see how this review works out...
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3:
What kind of game is it?: Okay, if you're one of those people who never played Marvel vs Capcom 2(and if you haven't, why?!) here's a quick idea of what this game is. MvC3 is a fighting game where you choose teams of three characters and “tag” them in and out of the battle, so although there are six characters in each match, the matches are fought one on one. The off-screen characters can preform quick attacks by jumping into the fight, but are vulnerable to attack when they do so. Each team has combo meter that fills up when a team member attacks or gets attacked, which can be used(and depleted) to unleash a variety of hard hitting, deadly super attacks. Your team can also preform double or triple super combo attacks, busting out crazy damage to your opponents by pooling their various talents. You also have an “X-Factor” that can be used once per match which can power up your team, temporarily making them stronger, faster, able to heal from damage quicker, etc. You win when you defeat your opponent's threesome or your threesome is defeated.
Who's in it?: So you want to know about characters and who's in the game, right? Well there are an impressive 50(!) characters, 25 Marvel characters and 25 Capcom ones. 51 characters if you count Galactus... Yes, that's right, you can play as frigging GALACTUS! I haven't unlocked Galactus yet, but I figure that should be good for a few chuckles. Because I'm a nice guy, here's a handy list of all of the characters in the game. First up, your Marvel characters: Captain America, Deadpool, Dr. Doom, Dormammu, Hulk, Iron Man, Magneto, MODOK, Jean Grey, Sentinel, She-Hulk, Shuma-Gorath(who you have to download), Spider-Man, Storm, Super-Skrull, Taskmaster(!), Thor, Wolverine, X-23, Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Hawkeye(!!), Iron Fist, Nova(!) & Rocket Raccoon. Yes, the Marvel side is STACKED. As for the Capcom characters, here ya go: Firebrand, Frank West, Nemesis, Phoenix Wright, Strider, Vergil(!), Akuma, Albert Wesker(!), Amaterasu(?), Arthur, Chris Redfield, Chun-Li, Crimson Viper, Dante, Felicia, Hsien-Ko, Jill Valentine(who you have to download), Mike Haggar, Morrigan, Nathan Spencer, Ryu, Trish, Tron Bonne(why?), Viewtiful Joe & Zero. Being a lifelong Marvel Zombie and all, I've naturally spent more time playing as the Marvel characters, although I have played as a few of the characters from the Capcom side, mainly the Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Street Fighter characters(in that order).
What's it about?: If you DID play MvC2 then you know that the story was... vague... And that's putting it nicely! It had something to do with a female pirate, a flying pirate ship and some goo named Abyss that wanted to kill you for some reason... Yeah, I didn't play THAT game for it's story, obviously. This time around though, there actually IS a story! AND it makes sense!! Crazy, no? Albert Wesker of Resident Evil fame has contacted the villains of the Marvel Universe(led by Dr. Doom) and has asked them to come over to his world(the Capcom universe) to help him take it over so that they could rule as gods. Unfortunately, the Marvel villains can't find a power source large enough to open the dimensional portal to Capcom land. Super-Skrull suggests tapping into Galactus's power, which Doom is fine with. This works and allows the characters to travel between worlds, but pisses Galactus off BIG TIME, to the point where he decides that he'd eat the Earth for the arrogance of Doom and Wesker. So now the heroes and villains have to band together to stop Galactus from going through with his threats... Cool, no?
The Good: Um, before I mention anything else, one of the best things about this game is it's price... In a day when most new games are $60, this game came priced at a sensible $40(and with my $10 Amazon credit thanks to buying Batman: Arkham City, it was only $30 and change!). The action is really fast paced. With 48 characters(up to 51 with Galactus and the DLC characters, plus whatever extra characters Capcom may have up their sleeves), there's A LOT of moves to learn. Every character has an ending story if they are the one to lay the final hit on Galactus, thus giving you a reason to defeat the game with every character. I've only unlocked 3 so far, but Taskmaster doing a TV commercial telling people to train with him since he was the guy who defeated Galactus was all sorts of awesome. The story and dialogue is pretty sweet. I can't tell you how hard I marked out when Nova mentioned Speedball after beating somebody. Hawkeye is in the game, which is always a good thing. In Dr. Strange's ending there was an appearance by the Scarlet Witch AND Wiccan which was awesome. In other words, the endings have been great so far. The graphics are sharp, colorful and all around good. There are a pretty good amount of unlockable “titles”(whatever they are) which should have me pulling off all sorts of objectives to acquire them.
The Bad: I'm not really much of an online guy, as in I hate playing online, so there really aren't THAT many different game options... You have the standard arcade, you have the mission mode(which really isn't worth talking about) and you have versus... And that's it. There IS another mode being released for free at some vague time down the road(Heroes and Heralds or something like that), but until then it's mainly arcade mode for me... Some of the voice acting for this game is pretty bad... The play mechanics here are WAY different than MvC2, so it's going to take me some time to actually be semi-good, which isn't really a bad thing, but still. Galactus is a frigging BEAST! The first time I played against him he probably battered me a good 6 times, including dealing out 150 hit combos... I guess that's realistic and all, but damn... $5 for ONE downloadable character Capcom? Really?
The Verdict: I like fighting games. I love Marvel Comics. Hawkeye is one of my favorite characters. Nova is another. In other words, this game delivers a LOT of good things for me. Sure, I have to play the game on “easy” right now due to me getting my ass handed to me on “normal” but I'm sure the more time I put into this game, the better I'll get... In theory at least. Granted, this game is pretty different from MvC2, but why shouldn't it be? MvC2 was/is one of my all-time favorite fighting games, but let's face it, the game engine is like 10 years old now, in video game terms, it's a dinosaur! So while it'll probably take me several frustrating days of getting my ass kicked by the likes of Galactus and Dormammu(who's REALLY strong here!), I'm confident that in time this game will end up as one of my all-time favorite fighting titles. Now if only we could get Loki or Ultron as DLC......
Score: 8 1/2 out of 10.

Arkham City!
Hey X-Maniacs, just figured I'd let you know I picked up Batman: Arkham City earlier today and have been playing it for most of the day. And in case you were wondering, yes, it does live up to the hype. As such, I don't have any new reviews to post... On the plus side, I didn't actually have any new comics left to review, so it was going to be a few retro-reviews I put up tonight anyway. But never fear, tomorrow is New Comic Day, and Arkham City or no, I WILL be picking up a mess of new comics, I WILL be posting my weekly New Comic Day post and I WILL be posting a review for Fear Itself #7 sometime tomorrow(along with a few other reviews). Trust me, I'm already looking forward to it! Until then though, I'll throw a random scan out there and sign off with the usual... X out!

Some video game news, plus a random scan!
Hey X-Maniacs, I figured I'd take a little breather from my schoolwork to throw a quick update out. I was initially just going to do a quick scan and leave it at that, but some pretty awesome comic book video game news came out today, so I figure I should touch on that. First off is the official announcement of Marvel vs Capcom 3... As somebody who had sunk COUNTLESS hours into Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the PS2, I've got to say that this is spectacular news! I'd still prefer if it was an all Marvel game(sorry, but I'd rather play as 50+ Marvel characters then with a bunch of Capcom characters that I had never heard about)but so long as this game is HALF as good as its predecessor, it'll definitely be a must buy for me.
Speaking of must buys, it was announced today that Talia Al Ghul and Mr. Freeze have been confirmed for Batman: Arkham Asylum 2. Freeze I can take or leave, but I'm pretty excited about Talia's inclusion, especially if it means that Ra's Al Ghul will also be appearing. Of course I am a bit nervous that Talia's inclusion could possibly lead to a Damian appearance, but I don't think DC would do that to me... Or at least they better not!

A very lazy post, plus a Random Scan!
I am officially on Spring break!!! Yay for me! Now, since I have no school to deal with you'd probably think that this means I'll be putting up even more posts then usual, right? Wrong! As my first official act as a deadbeat, I plan on taking a sleeping pill, and sleeping until 12 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Since I don't intend on being conscious much longer, I obviously won't be posting any new reviews tonight. As for tomorrow, I'm currently planning on doing a few reviews, but there's a slight problem with that idea... I started playing Dragon Age: Origins on my PS3 today after school, and I got HOOKED! Damn that JT and his spot-on recommendation of that game! It's as good as he said it was! I think I put in about 7 straight hours after I got home, so yeah, if that happens again tomorrow, I'm not sure what I'll be posting tomorrow... It's not all good for me though, as I got an e-mail from my online comic book shop, and found out that the estimated time of arrival for the comics I ordered this past Wednesday(that would include Blackest Night #8)is April 8th, next Thursday! Ugh, that is an agonizingly long wait for a comic I'm practically dying to read... Umm, and that's pretty much it I guess. As promised at the top of this post, here's a random comic scan, and before I go, as always, Long Live The Legion!

How do you say, "No new reviews" in spanish?
Since I've spent my entire weekend playing "Batman: Arkham Asylum", I never got around to doing my Spanish homework... Whoops! What that means is that I won't be reading/posting about Daredevil #500 as I had been planning. I should have some kind of review for DD #500 up by late tomorrow night... Probably!
Besides that, as I said, I've been spending almost all of my free time playing "Arkham", which I can proudly admit to beating today! Yay! Big time props to story writer Paul Dini, he really did a fantastic job with the writing for this game. The story was awesome from start to finish, with the slight twist at the end highly enjoyable(I also loved the scene after the credits!). I enjoyed the story so much that I'm going to start collecting Paul's DC work("Streets of Gotham" and "Gotham City Sirens"). I beat the game on normal difficulty, and I have to say, that game kicked my ass at times! I can't wait to try it on hard. Towards the end of the game, before the final battle, Batman has to fight off 16(!)Blackgate prisoners in a very narrow hallway. Finally defeating those goons was quite the satisfying experience. After beating the game, you can go back and try to solve the 240(!!!)riddles the Riddler has hidden throughout Arkham. I've managed to find 239(!!!!!)of those damnable riddles, but for the life of me I couldn't find the last one. After school tomorrow I'll fire the game up again and continue my hunt for that final riddle.
Let's see, on the comic book front, I finished up the first part of "Invasion" last night and found myself enjoying the early portion of that storyline. It sucks to be Australia in that mini though, as the massive alien Invasion fleet chose the land down under as the beachhead for their invasion force. So far so good though. If I have some time after finishing my Spanish homework, I'll probably begin the second part of Invasion. Well, that's going to have to be it for tonight, if I don't get started on that homework now, I'm never going to get any sleep! Post #908! Plus as a bonus, a rant about the "death" of Barry Allen!
This is my 908th post here on this blog! What's so significant about the 908th post you ask? Absolutely nothing! I was just too lazy to give this post a proper title, so that's that. Now that we explained how the title of this post came to be, we should probably find something comic related to talk about... Weird, I sounded like Venom in that last line... That would be the Eddie Brock Venom, not the annoying Mac Gargan Venom! I miss Eddie.
Hmm, where was I? Oh, that's right, looking for something comic related to post. Well, I think the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" video game is as good a place to start as any. Have I mentioned that I love that game? Yes, I have. Have I mentioned that Arkham Asylum is the best comic book based video game EVER? Yep, I believe I mentioned that little fact last night. Well, what's left to say about that game then? PLENTY! I'm going to guess that some of you guys are probably sick and tired of reading about how much I love that game, but I can't help it! See, I'm more of a video game person than a movie person. I can't tell you what the last movie I watched was(really, I can't!), but I can tell you exactly what game I was playing two weeks ago(Civilization: Revolution). You know how people gush about "The Dark Knight" or "Iron Man" movies? "Batman: Arkham Asylum" is my "Dark Knight". It's that good. And just so everybody knows, I'm ranked 8,758th overall in the first challenge mission. Is that as bad as it sounds? Yes, yes it is.
Now, let's get into comic books! I finished reading Crisis on Infinite Earths last week, and it was as confusing as I'd been warned it would be. First of all, 12 parts is WAY too long for a mini-series! 6 issues is perfect for a mini-series. 8 issues is pushing it, but I can deal with that. However, a 12 issue mini-series is crazy. 12 issues for a crossover is fine but not for a monthly mini-series. I will say that the parts of the story that I could understand were actually pretty enjoyable. The first 3 issues and the last were my favorites. I definitely could have done without most of the junk in the middle. I mean did we really need a Lex Luthor & Brainiac vs. Psimon mini-story in the middle of things? George Perez's artwork was marvelous(as usual). I will say that I liked the original depiction of the Anti-Monitor a lot more than his later appearance. The purple cape he wore with the original armor was money!
Before I stop talking about Crisis, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the "death" of Barry Allen(Flash). The way Barry's death was handled here was awful! I was expecting Barry to go out with a bang, instead he barely went out with a fizzle. Barry sacrifices his life to destroy the Anti-Monitor's cannon(or something equally nefarious). So, Barry dies and the Anti-Monitor is really pissed about his cannon being destroyed. However, the destruction of that cannon really didn't accomplish anything! The Anti-Monitor simply re-powers himself by destroying a bunch of worlds and continues his reign of terror. On top of Barry's sacrifice being nearly meaningless, his death was hardly touched on. Barry dies in issue #7(I think)and nobody even realizes he was dead until issue #12! Sure, Wally West would occasionally wonder what had happened to his mentor, but all of Barry's so-called teammates and friends seemingly could care less. When the heroes learn of Barry's death only Wally shows some emotion, and even he wasn't as upset as I figured he would be. Superman's reaction to Barry's death kind of sums it all up best. Wally is cradling Barry's tattered Flash costume and Superman quizzically asks, "That's Barry's uniform, isn't it?", and that's all. We don't get a, "Oh no, Barry's dead!" or even a, "Poor Barry Allen. He'll be missed.". No, we get Superman stupidly asking a question he already knows the answer to! Pathetic! Poor Barry, no wonder he came back to life in such a bad mood...
With Crisis finally finished, I've moved on to DC's "Invasion" storyline from the 1980's. This mini is a more reasonable 3 issues, with each comic 80 pages long. I've always been a sucker for comic book aliens, so I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll enjoy this storyline. After that, I might read the "Kingdom" mini-series, even though I've been wanting to read "Justice" and "DC: The New Frontier" for a long time now. Then again, I might just start reading Robin, Green Arrow or Green Lantern, all of which I have very long runs to get through... Well, I know I'll be reading something, I just don't know what!
As for new comics, next up is Daredevil #500, which I'm really looking forward to reading. After that, things start to get a bit iffy. I've had Ultimate Avengers #001 and X-Men: Legacy #227 laying around unread for a while now, but I just haven't really wanted to give either book a read. I've also got some "War of Kings" x-over stuff to read through(Ascension and Warriors). Since the main "War" mini-series ended a few weeks ago, I should probably polish off those secondary books. Hmm, I think I've rambled long enough for one night. Trust me, post #909 is going to be a lot better than post #908! I promise!
Hmm, where was I? Oh, that's right, looking for something comic related to post. Well, I think the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" video game is as good a place to start as any. Have I mentioned that I love that game? Yes, I have. Have I mentioned that Arkham Asylum is the best comic book based video game EVER? Yep, I believe I mentioned that little fact last night. Well, what's left to say about that game then? PLENTY! I'm going to guess that some of you guys are probably sick and tired of reading about how much I love that game, but I can't help it! See, I'm more of a video game person than a movie person. I can't tell you what the last movie I watched was(really, I can't!), but I can tell you exactly what game I was playing two weeks ago(Civilization: Revolution). You know how people gush about "The Dark Knight" or "Iron Man" movies? "Batman: Arkham Asylum" is my "Dark Knight". It's that good. And just so everybody knows, I'm ranked 8,758th overall in the first challenge mission. Is that as bad as it sounds? Yes, yes it is.
Now, let's get into comic books! I finished reading Crisis on Infinite Earths last week, and it was as confusing as I'd been warned it would be. First of all, 12 parts is WAY too long for a mini-series! 6 issues is perfect for a mini-series. 8 issues is pushing it, but I can deal with that. However, a 12 issue mini-series is crazy. 12 issues for a crossover is fine but not for a monthly mini-series. I will say that the parts of the story that I could understand were actually pretty enjoyable. The first 3 issues and the last were my favorites. I definitely could have done without most of the junk in the middle. I mean did we really need a Lex Luthor & Brainiac vs. Psimon mini-story in the middle of things? George Perez's artwork was marvelous(as usual). I will say that I liked the original depiction of the Anti-Monitor a lot more than his later appearance. The purple cape he wore with the original armor was money!
Before I stop talking about Crisis, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the "death" of Barry Allen(Flash). The way Barry's death was handled here was awful! I was expecting Barry to go out with a bang, instead he barely went out with a fizzle. Barry sacrifices his life to destroy the Anti-Monitor's cannon(or something equally nefarious). So, Barry dies and the Anti-Monitor is really pissed about his cannon being destroyed. However, the destruction of that cannon really didn't accomplish anything! The Anti-Monitor simply re-powers himself by destroying a bunch of worlds and continues his reign of terror. On top of Barry's sacrifice being nearly meaningless, his death was hardly touched on. Barry dies in issue #7(I think)and nobody even realizes he was dead until issue #12! Sure, Wally West would occasionally wonder what had happened to his mentor, but all of Barry's so-called teammates and friends seemingly could care less. When the heroes learn of Barry's death only Wally shows some emotion, and even he wasn't as upset as I figured he would be. Superman's reaction to Barry's death kind of sums it all up best. Wally is cradling Barry's tattered Flash costume and Superman quizzically asks, "That's Barry's uniform, isn't it?", and that's all. We don't get a, "Oh no, Barry's dead!" or even a, "Poor Barry Allen. He'll be missed.". No, we get Superman stupidly asking a question he already knows the answer to! Pathetic! Poor Barry, no wonder he came back to life in such a bad mood...

Well, now I'm tired!
I just put the finishing touches on my humongous 100th post over at the picture blog(which you can conveniently check out here). Between scanning, cropping, cutting and pasting, it took me nearly 2 hours to get that post up! However, I'm really happy with the way it came out, and I think(hope)it will please my fellow Legion of Losers!
I've got a couple of comic reviews I need to post(REBELS #7 and X-Factor #47 to name two), but that's going to have to wait until I've got some spare time tomorrow. Oh, and I'd be remiss not to mention that Batman: Arkham Asylum is probably the greatest comic book based video games I've EVER played. Hell, it's one of the best, most fun games I've played in a good long time! Between the gameplay, the acting and the story, I'm in Bat-heaven every time I fire that game up. Batman: Arkham Asylum!
My copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum arrived today, which is actually a day earlier then I expected, not that I'm complaining! I was only able to play for about 15 minutes, which mainly consisted of the opening(and awesome)cutscene which detailed Batman bringing Joker into Arkham Asylum and Joker subsequently escaping, trapping Batman in the Asylum, leaving the hero surrounded by all of his worst enemies.
Right off the bat let me emphatically state that the voice acting is GREAT! Kevin Conroy(Batman), Mark Hamill(Joker), and Arleen Sorkin(Harley Quinn)all reprise their roles from the old "Batman: The Animated Series" cartoon, which is just so cool. Mark Hamill's Joker is especially well done, his lines and delivery had me laughing out loud at times! Paul Dini co-writes the story, which helps give the game an authentic, Batman feel to it.
Since I own a Playstation 3, I also get the added benefit of getting to play as the Clown Prince of Crime himself(Ha, take that X-Box fanboys!), but I probably won't play as the Joker until after I've defeated the game as Batman. I doubt I'll be able to get much game time in tomorrow(damn school!), but Friday is my lightest day schoolwise, so I should be glued to my controller for all of Friday afternoon as well as most of the weekend! I'll end this by posting a scan from the mini-comic that came bundled with the game. The mini-comic pretty much gives the story of everything that led up to Joker's masterplan in Arkham.

The little post that couldn't!
This post was going to be a review for Batman #689(which I read last night)but I had a surprisingly large load of homework to deal with, which pretty much put the kibosh on posting ANY reviews tonight. Jeez, you'd think with this only being the second day of school things would start off a bit calmer, apparently not though! One thing I've learned since going back to school is that doing the scheduled homework is THE easiest way to earn an "A" grade. So sorry, but homework is always going to trump any new blog posting. Tomorrow should be way easier since Thursday and Friday are my lightest school days, so the plan is to get a review of Batman #689 up tomorrow as well as possibly Mighty Avengers #28 unless a better comic arrives in the mail. Oh before I check out tonight, Batman: Arkham Asylum shipped late last night from Amazon(which is where I pre-ordered it from). Amazon usually ships new games out of Philadelphia, which means I expect Arkham to arrive at the earliest Thursday, and no later than Friday. That right there should tell everybody exactly how I intend on spending my weekend! Before I go, I'll be posting over at the picture blog, so if you want, go ahead and check that site out.

Only two more days!
I'm practically counting the hours until Batman: Arkham Asylum is released. Tuesday can't come soon enough! The reviews that have been coming in for this game have been very high, much higher than I actually expected. Usually comic book based video games(especially DC ones)haven't really been all that great, Marvel Ultimate Alliance was the last really good CB video game I've played. Anyway, here's a link to various video game related review sites in case you're interested in seeing what the "professionals" are saying about the Dark Knight latest foray into the world of video games.

No new content today!
I just finished reading Adventure Comics #1 and Cap: Reborn #2, and you know what, there is no way I'm going to be able to post reviews for them tonight! Why not? Because it's late and I'm tired!
I had to head down to my college today to change my major, which led to me running all over campus because nothing can be easy! I had to get the signatures of two deans(which was a real pain in the ass!), my advisor and then return all the paperwork to the registrar's office. After that, I was off to the student accounts office to drop off my residency paperwork(which has to be re-done EVERY semester for some reason!)and finally pay off my tuition bill.
After that, I went down to the mall to get myself ready for school on Monday, and besides clothes and other school required necessities, I stopped in the local Gamestop and finally picked up a used copy of MK vs. DC. I tell you, you haven't lived until you've seen Darkseid laying on the floor screaming because he's being attacked by a swarm of bats! Between DC/MK, Civilization: Revolution(THE most addictive PS3 game I've EVER played), and the great content over at the other blogs I follow(damn, you guys always have some interesting stuff up!), I've been spending less time reading and posting here at the old blog. Tomorrow I promise to get some new content up... Probably!

Out to lunch...
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to post any new comic related stuff tonight. Why? Because school is fast approaching(less than two weeks now!)and I've got all of that fun(NOT!)financial aid stuff to sift through. With financial aid, I'll be able to continue to buy a ridiculous amount of comic books while working towards my degree, so needless to say, it is WAY important that I get this paperwork filled out. Besides the back to school preparation, I picked up Civilization Revolution for my PS3, and I spent most of the day playing that game. Tomorrow I should have a few reviews up(probably Fantastic Four and Avengers: Initiative)and I also plan to have a post dedicated to the back issues I read over the course of the week, I'm just not sure how that post is going to go. Well, that's it for tonight, it's time to get to work.

Random thoughts for a Friday night.
Since I've got no new comics to review this post is going to be one of my (in)famous random babbling posts. I'll start with some video game news. Don't worry, it's comic related! I downloaded the demo for Batman: Arkham Asylum today, and let me tell you, that game is frigging AWESOME! The demo only lasts about 20 minutes to a half an hour, but I was blown away by the gameplay. Basically the story is that the Joker allows Batman to capture him and Bats transports Joker to the Asylum. Unbeknownst to Bats though, Harley Quinn has taken over the security in the Asylum and once the Joker arrives, he escapes custody and runs amok, along with a who's who of Batman's Rogues. Joker then has the Asylum locked down, leaving Batman trapped with dozens of maniacs. Playing as Batman was a blast. In basic hand-to-hand situations, Bats kicks some major ass. It was easy to batter any inmate dumb enough to confront Bats, and it was also extremely easy(and fun!)to counterattack the various cannon fodder Joker sends after Bats. The game isn't a straight forward beat-em up though, Bats greatest weapon is his stealth attacks and his cool equipment. Batman's cowl can help him see through walls and spot an enemy with infrared technology. Plus you have access to Batman's batarangs and grappling guns. The game really shines when Bats begins to use stealth tactics against his enemies. Bats can sneak up behind gun toting foes and choke them into unconsciousness. It's hilarious knocking some goon out and then hiding and watching as his companions find his body and begin to panic. Usually I'll play a demo once and that's it, but I get the feeling I'll be playing this demo all weekend long. I might even pre-order this game to make sure I get my copy once it drops on August 25!
With that out of the way I can concentrate on comic books. Tomorrow I expect my CB order to arrive in the mail, which means I should have some new reviews up over the next few days. I managed to finish up reading the back issues of the "JSA" comic that ran prior to the current series. For the most part that series was really good. Some favorite storylines would have to include Black Adam conquering his home country of Kahndaq with the help of several allies including Northwind and Atom Smasher. The storyline with Degaton was also enjoyable. The series ended on a bit of a sour note, but all in all, this series was chock full of Geoff Johns written goodness.
Now I have to choose another series to begin. I have practically the full run of Robin, a slew of Green Arrow comics, several Green Lantern books, plus tons of smaller runs. For example, I have the first 11 issues of the Outsiders comics from the 90's, several trades including Green Lantern/Green Arrow vol. 2, Batman/Huntress: Cry for Blood, Batman: The Ring, The Arrow and the Bat, the first 4 trades of Superman/Batman, Batman War Crimes, The Dark Knight Strikes Back, Batman/Ra's Al Ghul Year One, and the OMAC Project, and that's just one of the piles of DC books I have. I have a few more piles of DC stuff, along with a few piles of older Marvel books! I intend on reading the Wanted trade tonight, and hopefully posting some quick thoughts on it come tomorrow. After that, I'm not sure what I'll read next. Well, I think that's enough aimless blogging for tonight. I'll check out the other blogs I follow to see who has some new posts up, and then it's time to dig into Wanted.

Nothing new.
Feeling somewhat lazy(and sunburned!)I'm not going to bother reading/reviewing any new books tonight. Instead, I'll just babble about whatever comes to mind until my fingers get tired. Sounds like fun, right? Yeah, I guess it doesn't, but that's what I'm going to do anyway! Let's see, where to start...
I started the JSA series from 1999 last night, and breezed through the first 4 issues. Those comics were written by James Robinson and David Goyer. While they were good(if I were to give them a score, it would be in the 8 to 8 1/2 out of 10 range), I was sort of hoping for a bit more. The team consists of Wildcat, Old Flash and Old Green Lantern(naturally), as well as Black Canary, Hawkgirl, Sand, Atom Smasher, the Hourman from the year 1,000,000, Stargirl, Dr. Fate and the Jack Knight Starman(!). One of my favorite comic series EVER is James Robinson's "Starman", so I'm expecting near perfection here.
The first four issues detailed Mordru(the magician from the 31st century)killing off agents of chaos and order in an attempt to steal the powers of Dr. Fate. Mordru manages to kill off Fate(the one with the red highlights and tattoo over his eye)and kidnaps the baby who was to inherit the Dr. Fate mantle. Needless to say, the JSA steps in and stops Mordru, and the baby winds up aging and becoming Hawkman's son(or something along those lines). I was enjoying everything until the whole Dr. Fate/reincarnation stuff started up, then my mind kind of blanked out. And here I thought Hawkman had a confusing story... His son is just as bad! Once I finish up here and at the picture blog, I'll probably read a few more issues.
I was going to read "Dark Avengers" tonight, but my open disdain for the works of BENDIS has kept me from reading that particular comic for over a week now. If only Noh-Varr wasn't featured in that series... I almost fear reading that comic because I just know BENDIS is bound to completely ruin Noh-Varr's character like he has done to SO many others, see: Hood, The.
I'm expecting a new order of comic books to arrive tomorrow(hopefully)and I'll list what I picked up once those books arrive. Speaking of waiting on new comics, I'm still waiting for a couple of my subscription books to arrive. For Marvel, I'm waiting on Captain America #600, Mighty Avengers #26, Wolverine Origins #37 and X-Men Legacy #225. On the DC side of things, we have Green Arrow and Black Canary #21 and JSA #27(STILL!). Of course that's not counting whatever is getting released today(Wednesday).
Besides comic books, I've been spending an inordinate amount of time playing Final Fantasy VII on my PSP. That damn game is as addicting now as it was when it first came out some 10+ years ago. I'm looking to pick up one more game this summer, either Fight Night Round 4 or UFC Unleashed. I'm completely undecided on which one to buy though...
Hmm, I think that's about all for now. I'll throw up a post or 2 over at the other blog and get ready to call it a night. Come tomorrow, I should have a few new reviews up. Maybe...

I got nothin...
It's pretty late here, and after last night's BENDIS induced madness, I just don't have the willpower to review anything tonight. Instead of reading anything new(I'll probably read Mighty Avengers tomorrow night)I'll be reading a couple of parts of the New Krypton x-over from late last year, along with a couple of the Superboy and the Ravers comics. What the hell is Superboy and the Ravers you ask? To be honest, I have NO frigging clue! Why did I buy them then? Who knows? I guess they must have been pretty cheap or something... Sometimes I have NO idea why I buy the stuff I buy...
Besides comic related stuff, I've been happily spending my free time playing Infamous. I beat it yesterday as a hero, and today I've been spending my time honing my villainous skills. Even though it's pretty awesome to just run around the city frying people and blowing stuff up for no reason, I have to admit that I prefer being a hero. I get more of a rush when the people in that game are crowding around me cheering and taking pictures after I save them from some kind of nefarious bad guy, then when they're running away or cowering at my feet. And I always figured I was more Dr. Doom than Captain America... I guess not.
Besides that, I brought myself a 8GB memory stick for my PSP today. 8GB! That's a LOT of memory! My old memory stick only had 128MB. The first thing I did after buying that memory stick? I went right to the PlayStation store and downloaded Final Fantasy 7. I spent a good part of my adolescence glued to my PS1 playing that game, and I can't wait to jump back into it. I guess that's all for tonight. I'll head over to the other blog, post some pics, and log off for the night.

And now it's Friday! Or was Friday...
Just figured I'd put the fact that I'm STILL waiting on those DC comics to arrive in the mail... Dammit, I want my Wonder Woman!!! Usually I go online 4-5 times a day(my laptop is practically glued to my side), but this is only the second time I've been online today. What's happened to curtail my web surfing? In a word, Infamous. In more than one word, Infamous for the PlayStation 3. I got my hands on that game today, and I am officially hooked! After I first fired it up, I played it for 6 hours straight, only stopping once for dinner. Hell, right now I can't wait to get to sleep so I can wake up tomorrow and start playing again! Most of my free time going towards that game means that I'll have less time for blog related stuff. I still intend to post something every night, however the frequency of posts will be going down a bit. Instead of 3 or 4 posts a night, I'll probably be adding 1 or 2 posts a night. At least until I'm sick of Infamous. Then it's back to normal here.

Hey, it's Thursday!
Yeah, the title to this post really doesn't mean anything. I couldn't think of anything else to title this post, so that should explain the things. 5, that's right, 5(!)comics came in the mail today, the day after I was bitching about slow mail service. All 5 books were Marvel Comics(what the hell, DC!). For the record, the books that came were:
Wolverine: Origins #36- I'll be reading this comic before I read anything else. I've been surprised at just how much I've enjoyed the past few issues of this series.
X-Men Legacy #224- I still have to read X-Men Legacy #220-223 before I can get to this comic.
New Avengers #53- Gah, it's a comic written by the DREAD LORD BENDIS! I can honestly state that I'm actually a bit afraid to read this comic. I just know it's going to be horrible...
Wolverine #72- This is part 7(of 8)of the Old Man Logan storyline. Mark Millar and Steve McNiven have really put out a great story the last 6 issues of Wolvie, and this is another book I can't wait to read.
Wolverine #73- Sometimes Marvel really manages to confuse me. This is one of those times. Now, Wolvie #72 was part 7 of the Old Man Logan story, so you'd think this issue would contain the 8th and final part of Old Man Logan... Nope. This issue is a different storyline done by a different creative team... Weird...
Well, it looks like I'll be reading Marvel books the next few nights. That is unless DC gets me my comics! Oh yeah, tomorrow I should be getting my hands on Infamous for the PS3. I've been checking out a few reviews for that game and I've been pretty impressed. Hopefully that game is as good as the hype. That's enough mindless prattling for now, time to read Wolvie: Origins.

Not really much going on here...
I really don't have any new reviews to post, so I figure I'll just shoot the breeze instead. If I wasn't so lazy, I could post a couple of retro reviews, but you know, the laziness... Last night after my last post, I finished up the last few issues of the Runaways, which were pretty lousy, as usual, but I think the next issue welcomes a new creative team, so I'm hopeful things will turn around in this series. I also read a couple of Superboy comics and I have to say, they were terrible! Last year after I finished off the Young Justice series, I so enjoyed the heroes on that team that I went out and procured the full Impulse and Superboy series'. I read the Impulse comics first, and I liked them. They weren't as good as the Young Justice comics, but they were alright. Then I started reading Superboy... I think I managed to get through the first 50 issues or so before I stopped reading them because they were SO bad. The stories were idiotic and Superboy's dialogue was probably some of the worst dialogue I've ever read in a comic book. He would speak like some kid from the early 90's trying desperately to seem cool, but failing miserably. I've got about 25 more issues to go before I can put those comics away for good, and I have to say I can't wait to be done with that horrid series!
Hmm, what else can I post... I finally decided to buy the Infamous video game for my PS3, mainly due to the heavy super-hero/villain aspect to it. The story is that you're this guy with electricity powers, and you choose to act either good(save civilians, etc.)or evil(fry civilians, etc.). Needless to say, I'll probably embrace the darkside and toast those suckers! I ordered from Amazon.com, so by Thursday, Friday I should finally have a new game to play. The last new game I purchased was NHL 09 last September, and I can't even play it anymore because it's broken... I don't know how it broke, but there's a nice hairline crack right near the hole in the center.
And that's just about that. I'll probably put a few posts up at the other blog, spend about an hour scanning some comic books, before grabbing a couple of older comics and calling it a night. Now onto the picture blog!
