Well, I'm going to resort to one of my old, lazy reviewing standbys, the quick thoughts-type reviews. Basically I'll be giving a brief rundown of what happened in the following few comics I read(with the keyword there being BRIEF!), and then some thoughts, before it's time to move on to the next book. For weeks like this one, where I have a good 20 books to get through, these types of reviews are going to have to suffice.
Amazing Spider-Man #677:
What Happened: The police arrest Felicia Hardy(the Black Cat) in connection to her robbing some items from Horizon Labs(Peter Parker's day job). Spidey knows Black Cat was innocent since she was hanging around him when the burglary was being committed, so he heads to resident superhero lawyer, Daredevil, to try to help out. Meanwhile, Black Cat escapes police custody. The two heroes end up finding a lead and follow it into the sewer, but alas, it's a trap, and the sewer collapses on to them. This issue ends with Spidey(who was shocked by some exposed wires) looking up from the sewer to see Black Cat angrily looking down at him.
Thoughts: No real complaints here. Mark Waid gave us a perfectly logical reason to team Spidey and DD up, AND tossed Black Cat into the mix as well. We have no clue who was really behind the robbery(although I'm suspecting the scientist responsible for creating the device), but I figure we'll find that out next week in DD #8. As such, I'll wait until then to say anything else about this one.
Score: 7 out of 10.How the hell does Spidey get the eyes on his mask to change shape like that?!

These characters play well off each other. I loved when Murdock keeps claiming he is not Daredevil and Spider-Man pops in screaming Daredevil and asks for some Dare-help.
ReplyDeleteIt was funny because from one day to the next you have no idea if DD's identity is public knowledge, so you can't blame Spidey for not being sure if he could approach Matt Murdock in the street to ask for "Dare-help".
ReplyDeleteReally loved this issue Emma Rios art is just amazing and my love for Irredeemable got me excited when I knew Mark Waid was writing this. Oh and im not sure if this is the right place to post this since im a noob to your blog but X I was wondering are you planning on reviewing ASM 678? I know you have alot of other things to review so no rush oh and i love your work man keep it up please.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words! This week has been a bit hectic for me, which explains why the reviews are coming out more sporadic than usual, but I do plan on getting a quickie post for Amazing #678 up either today or tomorrow. It'll be a complete rush job, but it should be up soon.
