Yay, I'm finally all caught up on this series. The creative team is the same as last issue, Tony Bedard with the story and Claude St. Aubin with the pencils.
-The Dominators put up a brave fight, but are ultimately conquered by Starro the Conqueror, which makes sense, because his name is Starro "the Conqueror"!
-Former LEGION member and current bounty hunter Amon Hakk decides to join with Dox, as does the shapeshifter, Ciji. After gaining his new members, Dox learns of the Dominator's downfall, and begins to contemplate a way to defeat Starro the Conqueror.
-Wildstar manages to bring Silica to Dox where he reactivates her and learns that she is too badly damaged to retake control of Dox's LEGION robots. Even though Dox can't retake his robots, he does manage to relay a single last-ditch command that has the robots seal the entire galaxy Starro has conquered, save for the wormhole Starro arrived in. Dox then contacts Starro and tells him he can leave the galaxy the way he came or he'll be trapped on the worlds he conquered forever. Starro gets pissed and rants a bit and Dox hangs up on Starro, further enraging him. With Starro angry and irrational, Dox feels that with some additional help, Starro can be defeated.
Like a broken record, I'll repeat the same thing I said for the last issue and the issue before that, this was a good comic. It wasn't spectacular, but it was fast and enjoyable. I'm still a bit perplexed as to why Starro is suddenly a humanoid and not a huge starfish, but I get the feeling that is going to be explained down the road. Before I read this issue I wasn't sure if I was going to continue to collect this series or drop it in favor of the eventual trades, but the Dox vs Starro storyline has me interested enough to continue collecting(for the time being). For a score, I'll give this issue a 7 out of 10. This was a perfectly acceptable comic book, nothing more, nothing less.
Starro the Conqueror doing what he does best... Conquering!
I really love this book but wish Andy Clarke could have stayed on as regular artist.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Andy leaving was really weird, especially with this being a new book. I don't get why he only stuck around for three issues and then split...
