Last review of the night(before I get to the bottom of my comic pile tomorrow night), the final issue of Captain America & Bucky... Kind of... You see, this series is basically transforming into a Cap team-up book, with the title changing with each storyline. The next storyline has Hawkeye guest starring, which will make the title Captain America & Hawkeye(which should be AWESOME). When the Hawkeye storyline ends, we get another title change. And in true Marvel style, the numbering will remain the same, probably just to add to the confusion about the way they number their books...
Captain America & Bucky #628:
Summary: Fred Davis manages to free the WWII Human Torch from his mental enslavement to Adam III by electrocuting the Torch. Once the Torch returns to his senses, the two travel to a special military base that specialized in drone warfare. Adam III arrives at the base(disguised as Captain America) and meets with a general who was actually a robot Adam II had planted to get the drone program up and running. The two malevolent robots discuss a world free of fleshbags, while the Torch and Davis free the real Cap from the tube Adam III had put Cap in since Adam III wanted to use Cap to “upgrade his pseudo-biological systems”(whatever the hell THAT means). Cap attacks Adam III and his drones while Davis and the Torch manage to get the general to incriminate himself within earshot of some random army officers, leading to the general's arrest. As for Adam III, Cap manages to reach Adam's “good” side, William Naslund III, which leads to Adam III literally tearing himself apart due to his two opposing personas. With that mess taken care of, Cap has a statue erected to honor the role Naslund and Davis played as Cap and Bucky, which ends this one.
Thoughts: Eh. I just never got into this story... Sorry. It just didn't do it for me. The story, the art(which I think is more fitting for a flashback tale, not a story set in the present), nothing clicked for me. I mean it wasn't a horrible comic or anything, and I wouldn't begrudge anybody who did enjoy this issue/story, but unfortunately, I wasn't one of those people.
Score: 5 1/2 out of 10.
I'm melting! Melting......
