New comics!

Yay, some new books arrived today, which means I get to push Dark Avengers further down in my ever growing pile of comics! Not a real huge amount of new books, but enough to provide me with a few days worth of reading. Here's what I'll be reading/reviewing over the next few nights.

X-Men Legacy #225- AKA that comic I'm not sure I love or hate.

Green Arrow & Black Canary #21- AKA that comic where Black Canary has inexplicably become an idiot.

Action Comics Annual #12- AKA that comic I'll be reading first tonight!

Green Lantern Corps: Through the Ages- AKA that comic that collects a bunch of Hal Jordan stories, including his first appearance.

REBELS #5- AKA that comic series I STILL haven't gotten around to reading yet...

War of Kings: Ascension #3- AKA that other comic series I still haven't gotten around to reading yet.

Dark Reign: Young Avengers #2- AKA that comic that is featuring the wrong YA line-up!

Booster Gold #21- AKA that series that has been slowly going downhill since Geoff Johns stopped writing it.

Teen Titans #71- AKA that comic that features my least favorite team in all of comicdom.

Batman & Robin #1- AKA that comic I can't wait to read to see if it's really as bad as most people seem to think it is.

Guardians of the Galaxy #14- AKA surprisingly one of my favorite Marvel books.

JSA vs. Kobra #1- AKA a comic I brought pretty much on a whim.

And finally Starman: Secret Files and Origins- AKA one of the very few James Robinson written Starman comics I hadn't collected yet.

That was weird... I can't really explain the way this post turned out, so I'm not even going to try. Well, let's dig into those new books!

  1. I see you got some GL Corps there, have you been keeping up with the current series? I just finished the "Ring Quest" trade, which collects issues 19,20, and 23-26. Aside from some really brutal scenes (ex: conjoined "twins" getting split in half and then both killed), I thought it was really well written.

Teen Titans...I feel you. No Robin? No Thanks.

You'll have to let me know how that issue of Booster Gold turns out. Doesn't it feature the "new" Batman?

  2. Actually Kello, GLC has turned into one of my favorite DC titles. I gave the last issue a perfect score, and I'm pretty sure over the course of the last few issues there are quite a few perfect scores mixed in there. Peter Tomasi is handling the writing for GLC, and he's really doing an incredible job with the lead up to Blackest Night. I'd easily call GLC one of my top 3 favorite DC books.

I remember really enjoying the Ring Quest story in general, and Mongul in particular. Mongul is still menacing the GLC to this day in the current issues of the series.

You basically summed up my exact thoughts on the Teen Titans series. I was annoyed when Superboy left the team, I was mad when Kid Flash left, but I was downright outraged when Robin quit. Robin was/is the heart and soul of that team. To be honest, the only reason I'm still bothering to collect that series is because I hear Sean McKeever will be leaving the book soon, and I'm curious to see what direction the new writer takes the team.

Right again Kello, that issue of Booster Gold seems to be an effort to grab some of the fans who were following the Battle for the Cowl storyline. I'm curious to see the interaction between Booster and the Dick Grayson Batman, but I'm not really expecting all that much with that comic.
