New Comic Day!

Hey there comic fans, it's Wednesday, so that means it's New Comic Day! Before I get to which new comics I picked up this week(as well as a few that came in the mail), I wanted to talk about the two Picto-Reviews I did recently. First off, thanks to those of you who read and commented on them, by and large, they seemed to be pretty well received. I also wanted to mention the name, “Picto-Review”... I just don't know how I feel about it... I mean, does it really give an indication as to what the post is about? Picto-Review sounds a bit vague to me. So I'll leave it up to you guys. Should I stick with the name Picto-Reviews, or should I begin to look for something else? As usual, any suggestions or comments are of course appreciated.

Okay, with that out of the way, let's get to the stuff I got from the comic shop today. I have to say, the owner of that place must really love me, 'cause I'm always leaving there with more then what's on my pull list! As always, if you want me to review them, let me know, and better yet, if you'd prefer a Picto-Review, let me know that as well. So without further ado, here's what I got; Brightest Day #7, JSA All-Stars #9, Red Hood: Lost Days #3, Secret Six #24, Avengers Prime #2, Hawkeye and Mockingbird #3, Shadowland #2, Young Allies #3, Shadowland: Bullseye #1, Captain America: Forever Allies #1, Superman Last Family of Krypton #1 and SHIELD #3(but I'm not reading this until I have the full mini). On the mail front, 5(!)DC comics came today, and they include, Green Lantern #56, Justice League of America #47, Wonder Woman #601, Gotham City Sirens #14 & Green Arrow #2. So throw me those requests, and I'll get on them probably come tomorrow or Friday. Oh, and before I go, I had to laugh at how this week's DC comics that cost $2.99 have the price prominently displayed near the title, while their $3.99 books still have the price hidden near the bar code! Ah DC... Why not put the price of ALL of your comics, not just the $2.99 ones at the top of the book? Funny stuff. Anyway, I'm off to do some studying, X out.

  1. I don't even know of Avengers Prime, so that one. Green Arrow, JLA, Shadowland and, hmmm, well, that's it for me. Sorry

Alot of the stuff is just things I either have no interest for, or won't want to read cause I don't have my copies yet ;)

It could be worse on the pricing thing - they could put em on the back just ta confuse ya

  2. What's Captain America: Forever Allies? Is that a flashback book, or does it take place now?

So how many books would you say are at the $3.99 price point now? Half of them? More? Sigh...you know, it wasn't so long ago that comics cost half that much!

Oh, and thanks for mentioning your subscription books...you've reminded me that I need to go to Marvel's website and change my address, or they'll keep sending Spidey to my old address!

  3. I say call em Quick Pics. Anyway buddy, I'm asking for a Picto Review of Brightest Day, which I actually enjoyed this week. Also a Picto for Superman Last family of Krypton, because.... I GOTTA see what you thought of that, since I just reviewed it. And regular reviews of Green Lantern, Shadow land and Red Hood. :)

  4. Well X, Picto-Review sounds like a mouthful, too many syllables. I say either just Pic-Reviews or Hmm...I like Snapshot, it just came to me! I mean a picture is said to have 1,000 words sooo I think folks will know some time of reviewing will be going along with those pics.

As for comics this week I would love to see your opinion of: Brightest Day #7, Red Hood: Lost Days #3, Shadowland #2, Shadowland: Bullseye #1,Green Lantern #56, Wonder Woman #601, Gotham City Sirens #14 & Green Arrow #2.

Keep up the studying! You'll be a spanish genius!

  5. Wow, that's a lot of reviews guys! Once I get out of class tomorrow afternoon, I'll get on the ones you guys listed. I'll prob do half conventional style, and half Picto.

From flipping through Cap: Forever Allies, it looks like a current story(Bucky is in the Cap outfit), but with a heavy dose of flashbacks, Marc. I'll know for sure after I give it a read.

  6. I would like to know about Green Arrow and Shadowland: Bullseye. As for picto-review, I don't think it's a bad name at all. I just think there is something catchier to call them. I like Quick Pics.

  7. You know, that's exactly how I feel Kello... I mean "Picto-Reviews" is okay, but it just doesn't really grab me... But it does tell somebody who has accidentally stumbled onto this site pretty much exactly what they'd be seeing...
