Just a(not so)Random WOLVERINE Scan...
So me and JT(of http://jasontoddscomicspot.blogspot.com/)were talking about Wolverine yesterday, and I happened to mention that once Wolvie was blown LITERALLY to smithereens. He DEMANDED me to produce evidence of this fact, and viola, instant comic book scan! So here ya go, Wolverine, blasted right down to his shiny metal skeleton, and yet still alive, thus proving once and for all that NOTHING can kill Wolverine! From Wolverine #43(Aug. 2006).

That is awesome haha. And thanks for the plug...lol at DEMANDED you. Man I'd never want Wolverine as an enemy.
ReplyDeleteComing soon to a comic book store near you... Wolverine: Get Jason Todd!
ReplyDeleteI figured you'd get a kick out of "DEMANDED" JT! :P I wouldn't want Wolvie as an enemy either... Not only do sharp metal objects pop out of his fists, he obviously can't be killed AND he's short and kind of weird looking...
ReplyDeleteI'd buy THREE copies of that comic Marc! :-) So hopefully the move went well Marc?
Yes, I am still alive and none of my things appear to have been broken! However, it took me MUCH longer than I expected...two days instead of about half a day. Oh well, it's all over and done with now!
ReplyDeleteLmao@ Get Jason Todd, that'd be a one shot, and it's last maybe two panels before I met my demise!
ReplyDeleteLol X you're such a jerk :P I'm gonna tell him what ya said about him being short and weird looking, he;ll have enough time to come get you too...AND Marc Ra...I mean Marc. :)
Lmao, but I thought wolverine was like hard to kill, or hell impossible.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'm just naive, so please fill me in lol.
Well, so long as nothing is broken or missing, I'd call the move a complete success! I'm still unpacking comics and trying to figure out where to put them...
ReplyDeleteHee hee hee, I am a jerk, aren't I?! >:P
Falisha, I honestly think Wolvie IS impossible to kill! I mean, I think I've seen him attacked/beaten in every way imaginable, and yet he ALWAYS comes back from it!!!
Would anyone care to explain the physics behind this regeneration, how he remembers anything etc?
ReplyDeleteOh, and the artist can't draw people - look at that figure
That's a reflection of Humberto Ramos's style, not an inability to draw.
ReplyDeleteI sure wish I could explain how Wolverine could be blown into nothing more then a metal skeleton and STILL regenerate from that!! Hell, in the Days of Future Past storyline, that very same injury was enough to KILL Wolvie, so go figure!
ReplyDeleteNow we all know I'm no art snob or anything, but yeah, that's def not a very good looking Wolverine image there...
Perhaps you could argue that since Wolvie was older in Days of Future Past, his healing factor wasn't the same as it was in his younger days?
ReplyDeleteEither way, that's one inconsistency I don't have much of a problem with...the X-writers in the '70s and '80s put realistic limitations on Wolverine's powers (i.e. he could actually DIE!), and I can respect that.
Aww, I would have to disagree with you Nagash.
ReplyDeleteFrom an anatomy POV, it's pretty accurate when it comes to the bone structure and what not.
Artistically, I think it's a pretty damn good drawing. Okay, so it's not the standard Wolverine we're all used to seeing, but when it comes to art you have to have your own style and steer away from the norm. I think that's what makes this scan unique. Hell, if all artists over time went about the norm, art would've been pretty boring.
Think of Picasso, Michelangelo, two totally different styles and art periods, but people still loved their art.
But we all have our opinions. :)
and X, I wish you could explain how he could be blown to his metal interior and regenerate. Lol. That would be one hell of an explanation.
I agree, Falisha! I'm a big fan of Humberto Ramos, Chris Bachalo, and other artists with similar, off-model styles (Patrick Scherberger also comes to mind) because they bring something different to the table than hyper-realistic artists like Bryan Hitch or the Kuberts. If everyone drew the same, comics on the whole would be pretty boring.
ReplyDeleteWell with all due respect to our resident artist extraordinaire Falisha and Marc, I'm def with Nagash on this one. I'd MUCH rather read only Bryan Hitch penciled comics then a Humberto Ramos or Chris Bachalo drawn book. The ONLY thing I didn't like about the early Gen X books was Chris's artwork...
ReplyDeleteTisk tisk X, I expected more from you! 2 vs 2 eh? lol
ReplyDeleteNaah JK! I wouldn't know enough about comic artists to really form a certain like or dislike , but I will say this confidently, Jim Lee is the best in the business damn it! I dare someone challenge that! ^_^ lol.
Really, X? I loved Bachalo in Generation X...and his style wasn't even that far out then! He kind of lost his way after Gen X in my opinion, until about 2006 or 2007. Some of the stuff he was doing in X-Men in 2004-05 was just awful...but his recent Spider-Man work has been quite good.
ReplyDeleteAs for Ramos, I think his style works for goofier Spider-Man stories. Not so much when you're trying to tell a super-serious Spider-Man story (now there's a tongue-twister for ya!), but I think there's definitely a place for his work.
Falisha, I wouldn't even THINK of challenging THAT statement! I can remember many of the writers who have been behind certain storylines, but Jim is one of the FEW(and maybe only actually)artist whose work I can actually recall right off the top of my head... He's DEF one of the greatest of all time!
ReplyDeleteEh, Chris's Gen X work(and especially his Gen Next stuff)just never really sat well with me to be honest Marc. The pages always seemed so... cluttered and scratchy... But then again, I'm saying that after not reading the series in like 5 years, so maybe my recollection is off... That wouldn't be the first time!
Lmao, I'm glad we can agree on that X. After I saw his work in Hush, I fell in love instantly. That man can illustrate his ass off.
ReplyDeleteI like Dustin Nguyen's work as well. something unique and not done often.
Yeah, Jim's Hush work was awesome, and DAMN can he draw an AMAZING Magneto! As for Dustin Nguyen, you'd have to tell me which books he's done, because although his name DOES ring a bell, I'm drawing a blank(get it, drawing!!! HA!!!)...
ReplyDeleteJim's work is untouchable. As for Dustin he did some covers for Streets of Gotham, couple for batman superman, batman detective and the upcoming batman Beyond.
ReplyDeletehere's some links check em out when you get a chance.

Oh... *smacks self in head* He's the guy who was doing Detective while Batwoman was starring in it! THAT'S where I know him from! Oh yeah, he's def a great artist, no question.
ReplyDeleteMarc - well, it's the only thing I've seen that I know he did, and I know it's a pretty big assumption, but it's a pretty big and horrible figure staring at me at that picture…
ReplyDeleteFalisha - it's the first two cut out panels that bug me. The other three are fine, just the first two. Urgh.
Everyone - I like off figure stuff, but in a more loose and scratchy sense. Not to hark on about the guy, but Skottie Young is pretty damn sweet at that.
Jim Lee does excellent 'comic' art - muscular manly men, big bobbed broken back bombshells, while Skottie does good art. If you get what I mean there…
Dustin is good too - I watch him on dA
Nah X, that was J.H. Williams III, who'll also be writing it when it comes back (along with someone else whose name escapes me...)
Wolverine's healing power is obviously at the power level that the plot demands ;)
