It's Wednesday, so it's time to go Comic Gazing! Well kind of... I'm hard at work studying for my last final this semester(YEAH!), so I really don't have much time to do all that much with this post... Since I'd rather spend what little free time I've allotted for myself tonight answering any comments you guys have graciously left for me, this is going to be the quickest Comic Gazing post I've ever done! No commentary from me, just the title of the books I'll be picking up and how interested I am in said books. So hold on tight, it's time to fly through this week's new books!
Adventure Comics #11: Interest Level: 8 out of 10.
Batgirl #10: Interest Level: 9 out of 10.
Batman #699: Interest Level: 7 out of 10.
Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #1: Interest Level: 8 out of 10.
Birds of Prey #1: Interest Level: 9 1/2 out of 10.
Booster Gold #32: Interest Level: 6 1/2 out of 10.
Flash #2: Interest Level: 2 out of 10.
Justice League: Generation Lost #1: Interest Level: 8 out of 10.
REBELS #16: Interest Level: 9 out of 10.
Superman: War of the Supermen #2: Interest Level: 8 1/2 out of 10.
Titans: Villains for Hire Special #1: Interest Level: 8 1/2 out of 10.
Avengers: The Initiative #35: Interest Level: 9 1/2 out of 10.
Black Widow #2: Interest Level: 7 out of 10.
Dark Avengers #16: Interest Level: 7 1/2 out of 10.
New Avengers Finale #1: Interest Level: 5 out of 10.
Siege #4: Interest Level: 9 out of 10.
Wooo, that's a lot of comics I'll be picking up this week, and only one that I really don't care about! This week's tally is; Marvel 5, DC 11, with both companies putting out some MAJOR comics(The Return of Bruce Wayne #1 vs Siege #4!)! It's been a few weeks time since my pull list was up around the 20 book mark, but with books like many of the ones coming out this week, I'm sure not complaining! I mean, I have 5 of these comics listed as a 9 or higher, so yeah, this looks to be a really good comic week for me. That's it, I've still got some work to do tonight before I can rest easy, so adios and Long Live The Legion!

Started my review tonight broseph, some of your interest levels are eerily close to my ratings, what are the odds?
ReplyDeleteAww yeah! X Man's comic gazing woooo!
ReplyDeleteI picked up BOP today sir and X, sir I guarantee you'll love it. So I'm definitely waiting the review.
As for your other reads, I'm sure you're going to enjoy them all. :)
Oh yeah, about Black Widow, how's that?
It's those wonder twin powers JT... That's the only explanation... :P
ReplyDeleteBoP is def one of the books I'm most looking forward to this week Falisha, so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. As for BW, I can't say, I still haven't read the first issue yet!
Lol. Aww I really really think you're going to enjoy BoP.
ReplyDeleteAnd when you do get a chance to get to Black Widow. AFTER your finals ^_^, please let me know, as sexist as this may sound, I'm trying to read up on as many women characters in the comic world as possible. Tired of reading about men being the heroes all the time lol. :-P
Flash#2- 2 out of 10 interest level? Ouch.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not that excited for Bruce Wayne to come back. I don't know it feels too soon, or it's one of those stories where I've read so many interviews about it that I just want it to get over already.
Falisha- Black Widow #1 was totally great!
Kello....you leave me with a thought before I head to bed. Should I get into reading Black Widow?
ReplyDeleteI'll have to sleep on it. I take your word that it was great, lol, chances are I'll get it lol.
This Black Widow talk has me remembering one of my favorite comic book covers from last year. And by favorite I actually mean unintentionally hilarious, due to Greg Land's inability to draw human feet. Here it is:

I call it "Black Widow Deadly Origins #1: Double Amputee Variant."
Falisha, if you want to read up on some of Marvel's women characters you should definitely check out this upcoming book:
http://www.amazon.com/Women-Marvel-Celebrating-Seven-Decades/dp/0785143246/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1273725567&sr=1-5
It's pretty reasonably priced for how many pages it has (which is a rare thing for Marvel these days...). I bet it'll give you plenty of sketch ideas too! Unfortunately it won't be out until later in the summer, but the "Women of Marvel" series (also on Amazon) seems pretty good if you want something right away.

ReplyDeleteMarc-
ReplyDeletelol that cover is just hilarious. Like, I've seen covers, or pics where a person is in that same pose and they usually have some feet visible or something. But that is just lol wow.
And thanks for the link Marc, I'll definitely look into that book. Also thanks for the heads up on the sketch ideas. You're truly awesome sir. :)
I also love the way Land tries to distract from the crappiness of his drawing by throwing a bunch of random stuff in the pictures. Look, explosions! And a speeding car! And the Eiffel Tower! Man, I've forgotten all about how awful that drawing of Black Widow was! Oh wait, no I haven't.
ReplyDeleteHe does that sort of thing all the time, where he just throws a bunch of things together on the cover to distract from how bad each individual image is. Take this Uncanny X-Men cover, for example:
http://www.comicbookdb.com/graphics/comic_graphics/1/368/186511_20091125174238_large.jpg
If that isn't truly awful, then I don't know what is. First of all, he draws Cyclops in a pose similar to Black Widow's so that he doesn't have to draw his feet. And he didn't even bother to finish drawing Psylocke! On top of all that, the images have nothing to do with each other and look they were slapped onto the same page in Photoshop.
Wow, sorry for derailing the conversation with an anti-Greg Land rant, guys. That guy just makes my blood boil I guess. To get back on topic again...I am really looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on Siege and The Return of Bruce Wayne. Those are two storylines I've been interested in for quite a long time.
Why is Flash #2 only a two out of ten, it's Geoff John writing, what he writes best. THE FLASH!
ReplyDeleteBecause it's his interest level and he's not interested in it...
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of comments I've got to respond to!
ReplyDeleteKello- I'm not overly interested in the Return of Bruce Wayne either, probably because there was never any real doubt that he'd be coming back. At least Captain America was "dead", so there was some doubt, but since the time he was blasted by Darkseid, we all knew it was just a matter of time. IMO that's why Dick's Bat run has been so underwhelming, because he's just a temporary place-holder, and everybody knew it right from the start.
Falisha- It was actually Kello who convinced me to pick up BW #1 too! I do expect it to be good though(not just on Kello's recommendation), because the woman who co-writes one of my favorite books(Dark Wolverine)is writing it.
Marc- As is my way, until you pointed that artistic fact out to me, I had no idea about Greg Land's foot problems... That issue of Uncanny had me laughing, because it was one of those things that I completely overlooked when I first read it! Now I'll be checking out all of his pics looking at feet! :P
Jozeph- What JT said! I think Geoff writes a much better Hal Jordan then(any)Flash, add that to my dislike of Barry Allen, and that's why the Interest Level is so low.
I see Kello is the culprit for getting folks into certain comics. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's all good. JT picked Black Widow issue 1 and 2 up for me because he loves me so I'll be reading that this weekend hopefully.
I'm so excited for comics this week! lol.
Ah, so you'll prob be reading those BW comics before me Falisha. Make sure you let me know how they are.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely let you know X. :)
