New Comic Day! June 20th Edition

Hey everyone, JT here, and I think I have Deja Vu, because it's that time of the week again, it's New Comic Day! I talked to X a few days ago and it seems he's been spoiled with time off, so who knows when he'll start reviewing stuff again, but hey, the guy deserves a break. Plus, since you guys have been so accommodating to me, and awesome with your comments, I figured I'd keep the reins of the blog for a bit longer, if that's cool with you X-Maniacs.

I figure we'll do things just like last week, let me know what comics you guys would like a review for and I'll do my damndest to get it done for you, plus if I enjoy something I'll throw that up as well. For this week's haul, I'll be picking up Catwoman #10, Red Hood and the Outlaws #10, Saga #4, Walking Dead #99, Avengers Academy #32, Avengers vs. X-Men #6, Avenging Spider-Man #8, and Venom #19. I'd say my pick of the litter is probably a toss up between Saga, which I've loved, and Venom, which has been great since day one, and really heated up with the last issue. My runt of the litter is probably Avenging Spider-Man, if only because everything else seems to be pretty high on my list. But, whatever you guys want reviews on, feel free to comment and let me know. Expect a post tomorrow and until then, I'm your your Interim Vampire X, Jason Todd, signing off!

  3. JT you've been doing a great job here, keep up the good work.

Def would like to see your reviews of AvX and Avenging Spidey, since I'm on the fence for picking those up this weekend. I'm getting Venom no matter what.

  4. You should check out journey into mystery, I usual hate anything otherworld but this arc has been surprisingly good.

  5. Journey into Mystery has been sensational for pretty much it's entire run. The "Terrorism Myth" arc wasn't good, but other than that it has been non-stop entertainment. I just wish they could get Doug Braithwaite back on art, his style complements Gillen's writing perfectly.

  7. I have indeed become spoiled by you, JT! You've done such a great job here I don't have to do a thing! Sucker!!! :P I wound up picking up 21 books at the shop(and then buying 80+ off of eBay...) so yeah, I have a lot of reading ahead of me. The only comic you picked up that I didn't was Catwoman, but I can't say I'm all that interested in reading about it... I'd definitely be curious to see what you thought of Saga. That one is pretty high on my reading list. Oh, and review AvX at your own hazard... That's the comic that'll definitely give you the biggest headache. Trust me on that... I know I'll be avoiding any review and comments about THAT comic. As for me? I'll just happily sit back, read some comics, play with my scanner, work and not have to worry about this blog! Huzzah for me! :D

    1. Alright guys, I read AVX and I need to know some thoughts! A lot of my friends quit buying comics so i don't have many people to talk to about it! I am not a big x-men reader so I want to know what everyone's opinion is on this issue. I follow x-events and certain titles here and there. I usually know whats happening with the x-men so I'm just wondering about qualms and things with this issue. Were the x-men out of character? Was the story just terrible? I will say the avengers are kind of annoying me, especially cap.. but with that being said I think that they may be acting that way to lead up to something EVEN LARGER haha if that is possible. Anyway I enjoyed the issue a lot, but that's not without my qualms about it. I felt like it took a step in a direction that I didn't see coming and I can always appreciate that in a comic book. The art was world's better in this issue as well. If JT throws up a post I would love to discuss on that topic. As you know from my comments I am not argumentative so i would just love some educated opinions!
