Life is good.

Wait, this CAN'T be true, can it?! One of my favorite X-teams, written by my favorite writing team, ABOUT my favorite comic book character of all-time?!? I've gone on and on about how awesome Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning are as writers, if you don't believe me just check out pretty much ANY of the Nova or Guardians of the Galaxy review I've posted. I've always liked the New Mutants, I have the full run of the original series, the 90's mini-series and the 2000's rebirth that went on to become the unfortunate Academy X. I started collecting this current New Mutants series but I had to drop it after reading how horribly miswritten Cannonball was under Zeb Wells. And seeing as that my screen name is X-Man, I don't think I need to explain my undying love of Nate Grey. Yep, as I continue dropping DC books, you can be SURE this will be one of the Marvel books that will be replacing them!

  1. The return of X-Man! Someone's a fan of you, bringing back your boy. Hell you get X back, I get Jason back, 2011 already seems awesome!

  3. And it's in a series I never really wanted to drop, written by two of my favorite writers!!! I'm telling you JT, Marvel and even Image are really making DC look pretty bad lately... This looks like a job for Superman...

  4. Really, Kello?! I have CRAZY amounts of NM books! If you're ever in a New Mutants frame of mind, feel free to say something, 'cause I'd be happy to hear about it!

  5. Lmao, that made me laugh WAY more than it should, the Supes line that is. And Image, I cant disagree, hell Im already hooked on Morning Gloories and Invincible alone...

  6. I will admit, that Supes line was indeed, awesome. But yeah, Marvel has come back from the brink, ended the DArk Reign and brought back the heroes. Their writers are either more motivated or just plain better, while DC simply revolves around two or three guys. As for Image, I LOVE Invincible, and hopefully by this time tomorrow I'll be saying that I LOVE Morning Glories as well.

  7. I didn't realize you were such a big New Mutants fan either, X. I haven't read the original series, but I do own the first New Mutants Classic trade (collecting the first 8 issues, I think). I'll have to read and review that so I can get your thoughts!

I did know about Abnett and Landing taking over, but didn't know about the X-Man subplot. Sounds pretty sweet, actually.

Also, I think it's awesome that you guys have all been branching out and trying books outside of Marvel and DC, both with superheroes and without. It's a wide world out there, and there are so many great comics to read in it!

  8. Yup, I do loves me some New Mutants. Not only do I have the full New Mutants run, I also have the full X-Force run, so it should go without saying that some of the character who were in both books(Cannonball, Moonstar, Meltdown, Rictor, Wolfsbane, etc) are near and dear to me. Add Abnett and Lanning, toss in X-Man, and I'm practically in heaven! :P

Well with how sucky DC has been lately, it's pretty easy to want to branch out...
