Rejoice! Tis Wednesday, meaning tis time for Ye New Comic Day! Yeah, enough of that... I am SWAMPED with school work(two 5 page papers, a smaller 2-3 page paper and a group presentation that has to run at least 20 minutes... On the plus side though, only a week and a half to go!), so this is going to be a rather brisk post... As such, let's get right to last week's books. Last week's Runt of the Litter(that would be the comic I was LEAST looking forward to reading, just in case there was any confusion...) was Brightest Day #24, and boy did it deliver! I gave that comic a score of -419 out of 10, making it the lowest scoring(and worst!) comic ever on this blog. The best thing I can say about Brightest Day is at least it's finally over. The worst thing I could say about it? Trust me, you don't want me to go there... As for last week's Pick of the Litter, I went with X-23 #9, and it wasn't that bad, getting a solid 8 1/2 out of 10.
So there we go, last week is taken care of, on to this week! I managed to pick up the following books earlier today... Freedom Fighters #9, JSA All-Stars #18, Secret Six #33, Superboy #7, Weird Worlds #5, Annihilators #3, Uncanny X-Force #9, Avengers Academy #13, Giant Size Avengers Academy #1, Captain America: Hail Hydra #5, Wolverine: The Best There Is #6, Deadpool Annual #1, Fear Itself #2, Captain America: First Vengeance #1, X-Men: Prelude to Schism #1 and Fear Itself: Home Front #2. I would have picked up Fear Itself: Spider-Man #1, but my blinding hatred of Christopher Yost prevented me from doing so, so that will be the ONLY Fear Itself title I don't buy. Okay, this week's Pick of the Litter is pretty easy, I'm going to go with Fear Itself #2. I wasn't blown away by the first issue of this event, but I'm still holding out hope here. As for this week's Runt, I'll go with... Huh, I'm not really dreading anything this week... I guess I'll go with Weird Worlds #5, only because I really didn't enjoy the last issue. But all in all, this week looks pretty good. Alright, I've got to get going, I'll leave you guys with THE Random Scan of the Week, and leave with the usual sign-off... X out!
The Random Scan of the Week!Nothing like a little Deadpool to get through the week!

ReplyDeleteand i garennte no matter what there is no way on earth fear itself will be nearly that bad
I may not be first, BUT, I beat Jeff. That's all that matters!!! ^_^
ReplyDeleteAnd it's comic day once again. And I'm SOOO hyped up. I'm waiting for Grimm Fairy Tales Myths and Legends, on top of the many things we ordered that came in at the shop.
But from you I'm definitely looking forward to reading your review on Deadpool Annual. I tend to favor annual issues for some reason. Maybe it's because sometimes I can get caught up on stuff I missed lol, in one issue. At least that's what I get out of it. lol.
Oh and I heard/read JSA All Stars is getting cancelled, is that true?
I don't know why but that DP scan was extra funny to me. Looks like a nice haul, you shredded my haul of two comics :P
ReplyDeletePfft, don't you worry, Movieartman, I'll be getting not only the entire main Fear Itself series, but every single x-over(except for the Fear Itself: Spider-Man mini). I'm still expecting big things from FI, and even if it disappoints me, I KNOW it won't disappoint me as bad as Brightest Day did! And to be honest, after how AWFUL Brightest Day(and most of what DC is doing) was, I'm happy to spend most of my money to support Marvel.
ReplyDeleteYou'll always be first to me, Lisha! :P I'm also looking forward to that DP annual, especially after how good the previous part of that story was. And yes, All-Stars IS getting canned, I think the next issue is the last one for that series. This issue of Freedom Fighters was actually the last one for that series too.
Two comics... You should be ashamed of yourself, JT! Terrible... :P It was eXtra funny because Deadpool is eXtra awesome! :D
Oh God... he's starting it and it's eXcruciating to say the least. As for the Deadpool Annual, that was EPIC. I mean, that Spidey one was on point and so was this Deadpool Annual, it was amazingly good in my opinion.
ReplyDelete*sigh* Hearing that the Pool annual was really good is a bit depressing, because I have NO idea when I'll be reading it... I'm going to read the two Fear Itself comics and try to pump out quick reviews for them(because it's FEAR ITSELF!), but after that, ol' X will be buried under a tidal wave of schoolwork... I'm thinking I'll be doing lots of Best of the Rest posts come this weekend...
ReplyDeleteThe good thing is you have a great comic waiting for you whenever you do finish all your work and such. A GREAT comic.... lol
ReplyDeleteAwww. Number one! You hear that JT, NUMERO UNO!! Geez, if I'm not mistaken, I think you've been giving JSA All Stars a pretty good score run. DC is seriously, effing up.
ReplyDeleteI get the feeling you're trying to tell me something, JT... But I can't quite figure out what... :P
ReplyDeleteI know I was enjoying JSA All-Stars more than the regular JSA title, so DC naturally cancelled All-Stars... It makes perfect sense to me!
Aww. I've been hearing many good things about JSA All-Stars. So I don't see why they would cancel. But it's DC, they always cancel the good stuff. But keep BS like BD going for a whole flipping year. :-\
ReplyDeleteI know why DC cancels the books I like... It's because they hate me. Yup, sad but true... :/
ReplyDeleteAww they don't hate you!!! All that matters is I don't hate you. Screw DC lol.
ReplyDeleteNo, they do hate me, Lisha... It's sad but true... I'm even okay with it because at least I know that you don't hate me! :D
