Overall: This issue is a spotlight on Reptil, who has just been named the class leader of Avengers Academy. Reptil is unsure that he's the right man for the job, but goes about trying to prove to the Academy teachers that he's up to the job. Reptil also begins to try to figure out what's going on between Finesse and Quicksilver. After some sleuthing, he discovers that Quicksilver is trying to help Finesse understand Magneto's methods better. Upon learning this news, Reptil decides to just keep it to himself, as he's been doing with much of the things he's learned since becoming a member of the Academy. Pym realizes that Reptil was repressing a lot of information and has him go to talk to Jessica Jones. Hearing her story helps Reptil out some, but he still doesn't tell Jessica all of the various Academy secrets he's learned.
This was a difficult issue to review. It wasn't very action heavy, it was more a look into the mind/actions of Reptil. Before I picked up this comic I could easily be placed in the, “Not a fan of Reptil” category. With that said, after reading this issue my mind was definitely changed. Christos Gage(writer)really did a masterful job of giving Reptil a personality, as well as making him into a sympathetic type character. Besides that, this was a great jumping on point for this series, as we see the Academy students and teachers through the eyes of Reptil. There's really not much more I can say here... So I'll just say give this series a try, you'll probably enjoy it.
Score: 9 out of 10.Possibly the line of the YEAR, "I think I see why Janet left me for you." Ah Pym...
