New Comic Day! November 2nd edition

Hey there X-Maniacs, it's Wednesday, meaning it's time for yet another edition of New Comics Day! I am your host, the man they call X! This week is(THANKFULLY!!!) a smallish week for yours truly, which is a good thing since I've yet to get myself a job and as such probably shouldn't be buying 20 something comic books every week... But wait, what comics DID I pick up this week you ask?! Well wonder no longer, here's what I came out of the comic shop with! Irredeemable #31, Stormwatch #3, Invincible #84, Amazing Spider-Man #673, Avengers Academy #21, Fear Itself #7.1(!), Fear Itself: The Fearless #2, New Mutants #33, Uncanny X-Men #1 & X-Men #20. I was thisclose to picking up the Villains for Hire book, but I may wait a week or two for that one depending on what I hear about it. So overall, that's a total of 10 comics for me spread across 4 different comic companies. I'd be very happy with 10 comics every week! With only 12 books to review, I'll do 2 reviews a night for 5 nights and do something special for next Monday and Tuesday. This week's Pick of the Litter is an easy one... It can only be Fear Itself #7.1, which is where we FINALLY get Ed Brubaker writing Captain America after Bucky's death in Fear Itself... I am crossing my fingers, toes, eyes and anything else crossable that somewhere, somehow Brubaker leaves the door open for a Bucky return in this comic... Yes, I know it's a longshot, but a guy can hope. As for this week's Runt of the Litter, I'll go with... huh, with only 12 books, there really aren't a lot of choices... Um, X-Men #20, I guess... It could be good, but since I didn't like the past three issues, I'll be placing X-Men #20 at the bottom of this week's comic pile. And there you have it. Another NCD in the books. As always, here's this week's random comic scan, and until later(and Fear Itself #7.1!), X out.

The Random Scan of the Week!Who does Red Skull think Cap is, Batman?

  1. Lol, well I can see you didn't lose your mind going in there today. Can't say that for myself today, lol. I'm shocked at this list for this week. Especially since it's a week where I'm not reading most of em. I think I'll be reading Uncanny X-Men. Wow...I can't believe that's it!! But I know those pockets are screaming for joy!! lol.

And with only 10 comics, enjoy the free time!!! ^_^

    Happy Reading!

  3. HA! I was more shocked than anybody, Lisha! :D When do I only walk out of the comic shop with a measly 10 books!? I was expecting to get Teen Titans #2 and I, Vampire #2 this week as well, but TT won't be there until next week def and he's not sure when I, Vamp will be in. Like you said though, I'll have lots of freetime to look for work or more likely play lots and lots of Arkham City!

HA! Look at that, Alien had the big stack of books this week! Go figure. I actually just posted a review for Academy #21 and I LOVED it! That series is fantastic. I don't think I'm gonna pick up that one... I mean I may if it looks really good, but probably not.

  4. I read the two X-men books and I have to say that I hate Cyclops' two teams. I just don't care about these people. New Mutants was alright, although it seemed like it is just another Regenesis series (i.e. people's places are settled).

  5. I read New Mutants and Uncanny so far(X-Men is pretty low in the pile). I was actually fine with Uncanny(which kind of surprised me...), although I absolutely loved New Mutants, but that probably has a lot to do with Nate. I'll prob have posts up for the both of 'em tomorrow since I have to try to spread this week's light pull out...
