The Random Scan of the(middle of the)Week!

Since I'm still putting the finishing touches on the paper I have due tomorrow, I'm just not going to have the time to post anything substantial tonight. But it's still all good, I'll instead put up a Random Scan! Once I'm finished posting here, I'm going to head over to the pic site and throw a new Venom pic up there. Then it's back to work on that paper... Once I finish it up, I'll check out and respond to any comments you guys have left for me, and then it's off to bed. All right, enough time wasting, here's today's random scan! From Justice League of America #7(May 2007)

  1. Gotta love Roy getting some respect, and Dinah getting her's too. Brad Meltzer wrote this issue didn't he?

  2. Yup, The Man(aka Brad Meltzer)did indeed write this issue. Man, just from checking out this one page, you can see just what a talent Brad has in storytelling...

  3. Right? I love the fact that he showed Dinah the proper respect as the only one who took Roy in and helped with his problem. Man I wish Brad would write more comics...

  4. It's funny how many writers overlook the HUGE role Dinah had in helping Roy through his heroin addiction... While Ollie and Hal were galavanting around the country, Dinah was the one who went through hell.

  5. Dinah may just be the toughest woman in DC. No super strength/healing, the stuff that happened when she got beaten, helping Roy out, Ollie always running off. Damn Dinah needs to be respected more.

  6. Whaaa! Two men agreeing on a woman deserving respect! Lol. Nah just kidding. :)

BUT I must add that I don't think a lot of female heroes are given their dues where needed. But I do respect you guys on calling out Ms. Dinah deserving a lot more respect than she's receiving.

Men can be jerks sometimes. :-p no offense guys. :D

  7. That last thing you mentioned is the thing that drives me crazy about Dinah though, JT... She should have left Ollie for good YEARS ago! And I say this as a fan of GA! Dinah def deserves better then Mr. Queen...

"BUT I must add that I don't think a lot of female heroes are given their dues where needed" I def agree with that sentiment, Falisha. Although in a medium run mainly be men, written for males, I guess that's not all that surprising...

  8. Okay then she's dated Ollie, she's dated Ra's. Who would you put our favorite Blonde Bombshell with then?

And Falisha i agree, Seems like WW was the only respected female hero, now at least we see Canary and PG get a little respect as well.

  9. Yeah I know X, I should've known better. But, you would think that SOME of the writers would be ethical in writing when it comes to women.

Uh oh...I've been paying TOO much attention in my Women Studies class. lol.

And JT, sometimes WW doesn't even get the respect she deserves. Especially when Hercules comes a long in certain issues. It's like she gets treated like a child sometimes. You saw that scan X had for WW week.

Although respect for women in the comic world would be delightful, I know it wouldn't fly by most of the readers. Lol. All they see are boobs and butt..lol no offense X and JT.

Lol I'm rambling time for me to go night night lol.

  10. Actually JT, I'd put Dinah with Dr. Midnite... Right before Ollie came back from the dead, she started dating Midnite, and he was such a welcome change from her normal choice in men... Of course once Dinah learned Ollie was back, she ran right back to him like a beaten dog. I don't think Midnite would have EVER treated Dinah as poorly as Ollie did/does.

I def gotta agree with Falisha here. Like she said, even WW tends to get disrespected from time to time. I will say that as the decades have passed, WW has been treated with increasing respect, although there are still times when she is made to look substantially inferior to other heroes of lesser skill.

  11. I do agree X, she has been gaining respect over the years. Just irks me sometimes when she's put on the back burner as far as respect is concerned. But, I can only complain lol I don't have the power to change that.

She's still number one in my book. :)

  12. Hm...what issues did this Dr. Midnite thing happen because I've never heard of them hooking up before.

  13. The Dr. Midnite/Canary relationship happened in a few earlier issues of the JSA(the late 90's series), JT. I'm not sure exactly which, but I do definitely recall them going out on a date and sharing a kiss. As always, if you REALLY want to know which issues, I could try to dig 'em out for you.

  14. No thanks dude, I'd appreciate it but as much as I'm confused about why Dinah stays with Ollie, In my mind they've always been together. Maybe that's why I hated seeing her and Batman hook up in All Star Batman.

I would like to know more about the Ra's al Ghul thing though. How the hell did those two ever hook up?

  15. Yeah, I can see that. I've just read about Ollie cheating on her SO many times that I wouldn't mind seeing them split up. Ollie seems like the kind of guy who shouldn't(CAN'T)be with just one woman.

THe Al Ghul stuff happened in the early Birds of Prey series I think... I'll have to ask my sister, because I know she's been reading a lot of the older Birds comics that I brought but didn't read yet.

  16. I've been reading Birds of Prey but I just got to issue 4 as I've been reading alot of Deadpool lately so I should get to it soon.

So do you think Ollie is more in the vein of Tony Stark or Bruce and he shouldn't be with one woman, let alone someone as awesome as Canary?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ollie and Stark are a perfect comparison. I hate to clump Bruce in that group, because if he didn't have an image to upkeep, I doubt he'd be dating anybody.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah i was hesitant to throw Bruce in then wished I hadn't after I posted. So do you think Ollie and Stark would get along or would they immediately fight? I mean Tony's a tool and Ollie's kinda.... a liberalist.
