Comic Gazing for: 4/14/10

Tis Wednesday, which means the comic gods doth smile upon us and shower us with new issues! Rejoice! OK, enough of that... Obviously, I'm not getting the proper amount of sleep, and what little sanity I had left has finally left me. Oh well, it will be missed... A few quick notes before I get into the main event, which is me describing what comics I'll be picking up this week and why. First off, I've read the last three issues of the Justice League earlier today, and I'm hoping to have at least one or two of them up tomorrow night, with the rest of them up for Friday... However, that all hinges on when I get my school work taken care of... One more month to go before summer vacation, so needless to say, my professors are throwing EVERYTHING at me. For example, I have a 7 -10 page history paper due next week, so there's a real good chance I'll be pretty lax when it comes to posting stuff next week. So instead of reviews, expect a lot of Random Scans, and other things I can post quickly and effortlessly. I'm getting ahead of myself though. Before I start yammering on about next week, I should talk about this week, and the books that have come out today. So, without further ado, let's see what's out now!

Action Comics #888: Eh, this series has been very hit or miss since Supes went to New Krypton, and I think I liked the last issue, so that means this issue should be pretty bad. Oh well, maybe I'll luck out and get two good issues in a row. Or maybe not. Interest Level: 6 1/2 out of 10.

Adventure Comics #10: This is somehow connected to the Last Stand of New Krypton storyline, which I have been enjoying more then I thought I would. With that said though, this series has been the weak link in that storyline, and I kind of expect that to continue. Interest Level: 6 out of 10.

Batgirl #9: I haven't read that last issue due to my rabid hatred of Chris Yost's work, and I doubt I'll feel like reading this issue anytime soon. Oh well, at least I know a few good blogs to see what I've been missing... Interest Level: 4 out of 10.

Batman #698: UGH! The less said about this series the better!!! Now it seems the Riddler is going to be getting ruined here next. Gah! Interest Level: 3 out of 10.

Booster Gold #31: I personally thought the last storyline was superb, so I'm hoping this issue continues the good work. Interest Level: 9 out of 10.

Brightest Day #0: In for a penny, in for a pound... I was... underwhelmed, I guess is the right word, with Blackest Night, but ever the eternal optimist, I'm hoping this series provides me with the answers to many of the questions Blackest Night left unanswered. Interest Level: 10 out of 10.

Flash #1: I hate SAINT Barry Allen. There, I said it. Ahh, I feel good getting that off my chest too... Anyway, I'm only picking this comic up because I stupidly subscribed to it when Flash Rebirth began, so I'm locked in for a few months. Maybe Geoff Johns can preform a miracle and make me like the Sainted One, but I sincerely doubt that. Interest Level: 4 out of 10.

Green Arrow #32: Umm, I don't even know what to say about the direction Green Arrow has gone in. On one hand, I really do like seeing Ollie return to his roots as a hunter of men, but on the other hand it all just feels kind of wrong... Meh, at least the last few issues have been Cupid free... Interest Level: 9 out of 10.

Secret Six #20: I haven't read the last issue yet, so I really don't have anything to say about this issue. Interest Level: 5 out of 10.

Daredevil #506: I've enjoyed this series for the past year and a half now. Umm, that's all I've got... Interest Level: 9 out of 10.

Siege: Captain America #1: I don't know what this is about, but since I see Captain America and Christos Gage, I know it'll be worth my money. Interest Level: 8 1/2 out of 10.

Siege: Loki #1: This comic should be interesting if for nothing else then to show us where the hell Loki's been during the whole fall of Asgard. Interest Level: 8 out of 10.

Siege: Young Avengers #1: Umm, it's the Young Avengers! What more do I need to say? I was a HUGE fan of this series before it was bizarrely canned, so whenever they pop up somewhere, I'm more then happy to read about it! Interest Level: 9 1/2 out of 10.

And that gives me 4 Marvels and 9 DCs. Well I'd say that makes DC the winner here hands down! I will say that even though I have way more DC comics listed here, I'm really looking forward to the Marvels more then almost any of my DC books. Well, that's going to have to do it for tonight, I still have miles to go before I sleep... And with that I say good-bye and Long Live The Legion!!!

  1. FYI, Batgirl 9 isn't part of the Red Robin crossover. It's it's own tale, part 1/4 of Flood

  4. All right! Wait, so that means my Interest Level in the comic should be a 14 out of 10? That seems somehow wrong... Anywho, I'll def be looking forward to reading that comic now, as a matter of fact it'll prob be one of the first boosk I read now!

  5. I too bought the Siege: Loki book, after reading a glowing review of it on another site.

I ordered Siege: Captain America on a whim, because I've yet to really read a Buck Cap story by a writer who isn't Brubaker. I approached it with much trepidation (have I used that one in our vocabulary battle yet?).

  7. lol @ 14/10. Well sir that just means that I have basically TOLD you to read it.

Nah jk. It's a good read though I know you'll enjoy it. :)

  8. Ooo, trepidation! That's a really good one Kello! I'm going to be wracking my brain trying to come up with some word to top that! :-) With how well put together Siege has been so far, I'm more then happy to be buying the couple of extra Siege x-overs Marvel is putting out. Siege has really been like the anti-Blackest Night so far in terms of extra books!

Yeah I saw the 1/10 over at your blog JT, and I've gotta say, now I'm dying to give that book a read! Once that comes I'll be dropping everything to read it!

14/10 means that I had better read that comic once I get it! I might not even make it inside, I'll just tear open the box, throw everything else on the ground and stand there in front of my door reading Batgirl! :p

  9. Lmao. Sir you are good with making me laugh.

And that's fine with me. I've done that many times coming home from school in my younger days reading my Game Informer or Seventeen magazine. It's been time when I've waited for the mail man. So sir, I think that is EXACTLY what you should do. lol.

  10. That reminds me of the time I decided I couldn't wait to get home before reading a comic book I bought, and then almost got hit by a train because I was reading while driving. Good times.

  11. Omg Marc. Lol. That's dangerous. At least park and read. Or stop at a cafe. You scare me sir. lol.

  12. HA! Reading while driving... that's def a new one! But hey, I can understand that, when you want to read something, you want to read it! The most excited I was for a comic in recent memory was Final Crisis #6. I ordered it(rush delivery!)on a Wednesday and I didn't watch the news, go online OR leave the house until I had read that comic! NOTHING was going to spoil that comic for me! A bit excessive? Hmm... Nah!
