This is the last issue of the Thunderbolts... Kind of... The series title switches over to Dark Avengers starting next issue, but as is Marvel's bizarre way, the new Dark Avengers series is getting the Thunderbolts numbering... Go figure...
Thunderbolts #174:
Story Points:
-Thanks to Fixer killing his younger self in the past, all of reality is falling apart.
-The Evil T-Bolts from the future(current) time and the original T-Bolts figure out a way to prevent the end of everything by trying to make the world turn out exactly as it was supposed to...
-That entails making corpses disappear...
-Erasing the past 6 hours from the minds of the original T-Bolts...
-And finally cosmetically making Fixer look like his younger self, AND erasing ALL of his memories of the future.
-That actually works, and the Bad Bolts leave Fixer behind, realizing he'd always be trapped in a never-ending loop where he'd kill himself and then become his younger self... Trippy!
Thoughts: This was another in a nice, long line of comics that I enjoyed reading. While things could have gotten REALLY confusing, Jeff Parker did a good job of dumbing down the whole “reality collapsing onto itself” thing, and as such I understood and enjoyed most of what I read here... Could you IMAGINE what this issue would have been like if Grant Morrison had written it?!? Anyway, I am sad to see Fixer go(presumably for good, since he theoretically couldn't exist past this issue), but I am curious to see where this series is going with this Dark Avengers business...
Score: 8 out of 10.
