Hey all, it's Wednesday, which means it's time for a new edition of New Comic Day! Huzzah!! I'm still trying to juggle working nights full time, as well as manage this blog, so I actually have a few reviews from last week left over to post this week... But before we get to all that, let's take a look at which comics I'm picking up from the comic shop in a little while... When I wake up that is... Hellblazer #291, Nightwing #9, Red Hood and the Outlaws #9, Supergirl #9, Saga #3, Avengers #26, Avengers Academy #30, Avengers vs X-Men #4, Avengers vs X-Men: Vs #2, Daredevil #13, Invincible Iron Man #517, New Mutants #42, Thunderbolts #174, Ultimate X-Men #12, Venom #18, Winter Soldier #5, X-Factor #236. On top of that, I'm also planning on picking up that Spider-Man: Ends of the Earth one-shot. Adding that all up, it looks as if I'll be picking up 18 comics this week... That's quite a lot of books, actually... Although it IS down from last week, so I guess I should be happy about that... This week's Pick of the Litter is the same as it was two weeks ago, and as it will be two weeks from now... It has to be Avengers vs X-Men #4. There are a lot of other really good looking books here(Avengers Academy #30, Vs #2, Winter Soldier #5, X-Factor #236, etc), but how can I pick against Marvel's big event? Especially since it's actually been delivering the goods storywise? On the other end of the spectrum is this week's Runt of the Litter... That's actually an easy pick, as the comic I'm least looking forward to reading is Avengers #26. So yeah, Avengers vs X-Men is the comic I most want to read and Avengers is the comic I least want to read... Go figure.
Now, the posting schedule for the week is going to be a bit strange... Tonight and tomorrow I'll be posting the final 5 reviews from last week. Come Friday, I'll post reviews for, at the very least, Avengers vs X-Men #4 and Vs #2. I wish I could get those two reviews up sooner, but alas, work and my crazy schedule preclude that from occurring. Later on today, I intend on posting a bunch of scans from the comics I read last week... So yeah, lots of stuff coming up this week. Until then though, Vampire X out.
OH Shit this is Epic

One word for that, SWEEEEEEET!!! Thanks for the link, Movieartman!
ReplyDeleteGood news and bad news... good news is there's gonna be a Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe book which looks interesting, by Cullen Bunn (know anything about him?) And the bad news is Bunn is also taking over as the writer of Venom. Not that I have anything against him but I loved Remender on Venom.
ReplyDeleteMan, Bunn is getting a TON of work lately! I'm pretty sure he's doing Captain America and Hawkeye(of which I gave one of those issues a perfect score), he co-wrote The Fearless(which was pretty good for the most part), he wrote the Deep(which I didn't like). From my limited exposure to him, I think he's a pretty good writer. The bigger question is what's up with Remender!? Why in the world is he leaving Venom? I actually read #18 earlier today at lunch and it was GREAT!
ReplyDeleteI got a FCBD Spider-Man season one comic that Bunn bought that I haven't read yet but since you say he's pretty good I'll take your word for it, but Remender is kicking SO much ass on Venom that it sucks to see him go already.
ReplyDeleteFrom what little I've read of him, yeah, so far so good. But he's gonna be filling some HUGE shoes when Remender leaves that series... I was kind of hoping Remender would stay on Venom for a LOOOONG time, but at least he'll still be writing the character in Secret Avengers.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing about Secret Avengers, and yeah, here's hoping Cullen does a great job with Venom, the good thing is Remender's made Venom such a great character plus set him up with a Rogue Gallery and such so quick, he's almost idiot proof.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I read Venom last night, man it was SO good.
You don't read Secret Avengers, right? I wouldn't really recommend it if you don't, but I am curious... And yeah, all Bunn needs to do is follow what Remender laid out, don't stray the course and he should do fine... So long as he doesn't do what Rob Williams did when he took over Daken from Way and Liu... Williams tried to put his own spin on Daken and totally killed the character. Here's hoping Bunn doesn't do the same...
ReplyDeleteRIGHT?! That ending!! Man! I think I have that comic scheduled to go up tonight. The question is, does X give out ANOTHER perfect score this week? Tune in to find out! :P
Nah, I was thinking about reading it when Venom joined but I'm not a fan of the art, or wasn't when I saw him in it anyway. And I REALLY hope it isn't a Daken situation... God I hope it isn't.
ReplyDeleteThat ending was fucking great. Im definitely wondering what's coming after that ending... that book and Saga were probably my two favorites of this week's comics.
Ugh... Poor, poor Daken... That's all I even have to say about that!
ReplyDeleteRIGHT!? Now THAT'S a good cliffhanger! See, since we didn't chat this past week, I have NO idea what books you even got... I mean I thought Saga was really good, but I wouldn't put it in the same league as Venom. I was actually doing a review for Saga at work last night/this morning when my lunch hour came up, so I'll probably finish it off later on today... I don't really know why I told you that, because it adds nothing to anything, but there it is...
Yeah... pretty much. Although I'd love a book of villains, Suicide Squad like with our buddy Daken and some other villains.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to ask what you thought of Saga... guess I'll know soon enough eh?
You KNOW I'd be all over a book like that. Even if it sucked, I'd STILL pick it up out of loyalty to the Daken character!
ReplyDeleteYou'll know at 8:30 tonight actually! :P
Right? I'm trying to think who could fit on that team though... because once you add Daken you gotta try to dance around that and see who else fits.
ReplyDeleteThe anticipation is killing me!!!! Okay.. not really.
