Okay, the bar for this comic is set REALLY low, as a result of the first part of this storyline. Seriously, it'll be hard for this comic to actually be any worse than Exiled #1!
Journey Into Mystery #637:
Story Points:
-The New Mutants are trying to figure out what happened to the Asgardians when they are teleported to their apartment, seemingly with no memory of what happened...
-Expect for Nate, who has seen his fair share of reality manipulation, and snaps the team out of their trance, getting them back to searching for the Asgardians again.
-Nate is awesome, obviously.
-The New Mutants run into Thor, who thought he was a mechanic, and wouldn't listen to any nonsense from the New Mutants about him being the God of Thunder.
-The team then runs into Loki, who they manage to snap out of the spell since Loki is the trickster god or something like that... *shrugs*
-Loki and the New Mutants go to Sig's apartment where they find Sig's, who gloats about ridding the world of the Desir. He tells Loki and the New Mutants that they'd surely fix things, but that with the Desir gone, he felt smug and safe.
-This one ends with the Desir, apparently remembering everything, eating dogs and such.
Thoughts: Well this issue was 20 times better that the first part of this storyline! I liked the New Mutants role in this one, with them trying to fix the mess with the Asgardians, I liked Loki running around role-playing by himself, and I liked the ending here A LOT. Good stuff.
Score: 7 1/2 out of 10.
Hey Look !! Your boy X-man did something else than just stand in the background!!
ReplyDeleteAs always I enjoyed Kieron Gillen Writting here, abd also loved Loki al the way from the role playing stuff to the weird extra large X-men outfit! (that was from the Morrison era?)
and talking about Morrison look this

and the solicit for issue 4 of batman inc
• BATMAN and TALIA AL GHUL continue their fight for control of their son DAMIAN – better known as ROBIN!
• WINGMAN and REDBIRD descent upon GOTHAM CITY! Who are these heroes, and what is their relationship to THE DARK KNIGHT?
Are you getting this series ? I believe is starting this Wendsday..
Yeah X-Man finally did something!!! Now if only we can get him to do that in a series he is actually a main member of.
ReplyDeleteBaby Steps...
HA! My first thought was, "YES! Nate actually DID something here!" Now here's hoping that moves on to New Mutants...
ReplyDeleteOh, and about Batman Inc, I'm almost definitely not gonna be picking that series up, Alien... Unless I have a really light week comic-wise that is! It all kind of depends on what I'm picking up, but as of now? I'm not planning on getting it.
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that Nate was the one to be able to see through the reality warp, even before Cypher apparently noticed - he's got the most experience, yes, but he supposed to have lost any real power to deal or detect reality warping. However, we have seen that his TK, despite the whole "limited by physical strength" line that was pretty much disproved in the same story arc, is regaining its strength. I'm wondering if his ability to see through the changes in reality are the first indication that his sensory telepathic abilities are starting to return as well? After all, it was only by combining both of his powersets and unleashing their full potential that he gained the ability to travel and work with reality. Until otherwise proven, I choose to be optimistic in this regard. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying this storyline, though I don't think it'll be a memorable one in a year or so's time. I may be in the minority, but I'm glad this seems to be keeping the New Mutants away from AvX, partly as I think they could do without being dragged into being plot devices/background for Hope, and partly because I'm just getting tired of all these constant epic crossover storylines. *shrugs*
