Now, I'm as big a fan of Daken as you'll ever find, but I've got to say, I am SO tired of this “Daken on drugs!!!” storyline it's not even funny. Fingers crossed the drug storyline ends here and we move on to bigger and better things going forward.
Daken: Dark Wolverine #15:
Summary: So Daken was shot in the head last issue by FBI Agent Kiel, who thought he was the Claws Killer. It turns out that Daken was battling Moon Knight while Kiel was stalking the Claws Killer(who looked like Daken for some reason), and mistook Daken for the Killer. Thanks to the Heat drug in Daken's system his healing factor is on the fritz and the damage to his brain isn't healing, although it's keeping him alive... Barely. While Moon Knight and Agent Kiel investigate who the real Claws Killer was, Daken has some hallucinations involving Johnny Storm, Wolverine and the people he killed. Eventually Daken manages to fight off the effect of the drug and his healing factor fires up, repairing the damage done. Now awake, Daken storms off to find and kill the man manipulating and impersonating him, the Claws Killer. As for Kiel, she decides to confront Hollywood celebrity Marcus Roston, who first introduced Daken to the Heat drug. Moon Knight tries to get in touch with Kiel to warn her that his investigation has led him to believe that Roston himself was the Claws Killer. This issue ends with a beaten, bloodied and drugged Kiel sitting next Roston on his couch while he holds a handful of Heat pills out to her.
Thoughts: You know, I liked this comic... Maybe it's the fact that we seem to be getting towards the end of the Heat storyline, or maybe it's due to the fact that we finally know who the Claws Killer was(although it doesn't make all that much sense). I didn't mind Daken's odd hallucinations, and thought it was a nice callback that Johnny Storm was a major part of them. As for the Roston reveal, all I can muster for that is a meh. I honestly thought Roston had been killed issues ago, and as such had discounted him as a possibility for the Killer. I have NO idea how he knew what Kiel was thinking or why he looked like Daken when Kiel was chasing him(low level telepathy perhaps?), but I'm sure that'll all be explained next issue. Since the story moved in the direction I've wanted it to move for issues now, I really can't find all that much to gripe about for a change!
Score: 8 out of 10.Eh, I've had weirder dreams than this.
