Deadpool #31

Review: This issue gets started with Deadpool and the doctor he had the hots for finding a bunch of Claw vampires inside the hospital security room. DP tries to outsmart the vampires(or Draculas if you will), but gets impaled with his own sword as a result. After a quick Twilight dream sequence, and some help from the trusty hospital janitor, Deadpool is up and ready to face down the Draculas again. First he manages to torch a few of the bloodsuckers with some holy water he put in the hospital's sprinkler system, before staking a few. The vamps manage to chase DP and the doctor(who he saved a bit earlier)into the x-ray room, and DP manages to defeat the remaining vampires with the MRI machine and the x-ray machine itself... Zuh-huh?! With the evil Claw vampires defeated, DP asks the doctor out for ice cream, which she surprisingly agrees to. DP races downstairs to tell the good vampires that he had taken care of their enemies, and this issue ends with DP returning upstairs to discover that the doctor had ditched him.

Thoughts: Um, what the hell happened here?! I LOVED the first part of this storyline(I gave it a perfect score for crying out loud!), but this issue just didn't do it for me. At all... I was fine with DP staking the vampires, and I was even fine with DP having a priest bless the hospital reservoir, but seriously, when the hell did DP turn into Reed Richards?! DP defeating the remaining vampires with an MRI machine and a rigged x-ray machine? Really?! I mean come on, I love Pool as much as the next guy, but gimme a break! I'd be surprised if he could use a microwave, let alone transform an x-ray machine into a vampire-killing device... Oh well, I guess not every issue of Deadpool, can be perfect...

Score: 6 out of 10.Why is Mr. Fantastic dressed like Deadpool?!

  1. HEY! He used GOOGLE!!!! That explains it all in my book, especially with Google in a world that has Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Peter Parker and other geniuses. I'm surprised he didn't invent a de-vamping ray.

  2. I think the joke here is that you would never expect to see logic in a Deadpool comic...and that's exactly what he used to defeat the vampires. Seems kinda funny to me! :)

  3. I don't know... That whole "thinking" to defeat his enemies seemed SO out of character for DP... I like my Deadpool running his foes through with swords, not outsmarting them.

  4. Deadpool's whole angle is that he eventually outsmarts his foes despite himself. If he wasn't so looney he'd be a genius. Look at the Bullsye battle, the X men arc or even look at the Secret Avengers issues. He's crazy...like a fox. But his resourcefulness was just taken a step too far this week. Even for a 'pool book.

  5. Good point about DP being crazy like a fox, because that really does fit him perfectly. Daniel Way has really been trying to display DP's craftiness, but yeah, the whole rigging the MRI and X-Ray machines was a bit much, even for DP!

  7. HA! They should really use that as their new company slogan!
