Wednesday Thoughts.
Hey all, X here with a little post. I just got back from the comic book shop, and unfortunately I only came back with a measly 3 comics... Those comics would be The Death of Dracula #1, Invincible Iron Man Annual #1 and Captain America: The 1940's Newspaper Strip #1. I also got Streets of Gotham #13 and Superman #700 in the mail today, so that's a grand total of 5 comics. Most of the comics that I'll be receiving this week(Action Comics, Wonder Woman, Captain America, etc)are subscription comics, so I'll be waiting a good week or two for those books... Man do I have to find a way to cancel those subscriptions! So anyway, if anybody has any interest in a review for any of the 5 aforementioned comics, drop me a comment and I'll try to get a review up and posted soon. X out.
Sounds like a highly poor set really - what's Death of Dracula?
ReplyDeleteThe Death of Dracula is Marvel's attempt to cash in on the whole vampire-mania thta seems to be running rampant lately. It's the opening chapter in what is supposed to be the mutants vs the vampires in the Marvel U. I think it continues next week with the new X-Men series.
ReplyDeleteI've actually been wanting to read the Iron Man Annual. If you get bored and have the free time, you could do a 3 sentence review maybe? No pressure.
ReplyDeleteX-Man, a fellow comic blogger did a post about Lex Luthor's greatest moments that I thought you (and all the X-Maniacs!)might like:

ReplyDeleteIt would be kind of cool to here about marvel's "attempt to cash in on the whole vampire-mania thta seems to be running rampant lately."
ReplyDeleteFor you Kello, I'm willing to do a FIVE sentence review! :-) Seriously though, I'll try to get a full review up some time tomorrow at the earliest, Friday at the latest. As for that link, I'll definitely take a look, since I am an unrepentant Lex fan.
ReplyDeleteThe Death of Dracula comic was pretty good, but a review for it may have to wait a bit since I lent it out to my sister and there's no telling when she'll get it back to me.
Awesome link Kello, I commented and I'm following that blog now just based on how awesome that list was.
ReplyDeleteThanks X-Man! I'm interested to see how Fraction updates the Mandarin.
ReplyDeleteJT- Yeah, the Famous Fanboys site rules. Paul seems like a standup type of guy. He loves Superman and Aquaman, as well as the Fantastic Four. Plus he's British, so if you ever have Dr. Who questions you can go to him.
I've been interested in that Captain America newspaper strips thing ever since it was announced, it seems like an interesting concept. I'd love to hear how it turned out.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you should theoretically be able to call DC/Marvel to cancel your subscriptions. I know what they do at Marvel is they take however much you originally paid for your subscription, subtract the cover price of all the issues you've received so far, and if there's anything left they refund you the difference.
Jeez I'm always late. Lol. Blame JT, for having me read comics like a madwoman!
ReplyDeleteWell You already know I'm all up for Wonder Woman 600, Superman 700 and Action Comics.
And I truly hope you can get those subscriptions. Seem very annoying to have them keep coming, give them a call, give them a piece of your mind.
Can't wait for the reviews sir. :)
Yeah, I did some research Marc, and Marvel does refund you some money, but after doing the math, I'd wind up losing a decent amount of money(since I have so many subscriptions), so my best bet is to just let them all run out(which should happen towards the beginning/early part of next year)and suffer through the week or two wait. Although I am considering taking most of my subscription titles and seeing if I can just transfer all of my remaining issues to one series. So instead of having 12 titles coming for 9 more months, I'd just have one title coming for the next several years! I have NO idea with DC though... I haven't been able to find any info on how they deal with cancellations/transfers.
ReplyDeleteI actually really enjoyed the Cap newspaper strip, it was a fun, old school style Cap/WWII story. Supes #700 wasn't that bad either. I'll try to get reviews for those two books up sometime this weekend, although with Sunday being Independence Day, I'm not 100% sure I can keep my word...
Kello - you think Paul is the only one who's British and knows Doctor Who? :D
ReplyDeleteX - you may wanna inquire about just selling the issues on eBay or something? I mean, surely some people will wanna buy the stuff you don't want?
