Just so you know, this is going to be a quickie review.
The Invincible Iron Man #27: Writer: Matt Fraction. Artist: Salvador Larroca.
Review: Iron Man decides to allow Pepper Potts to become the armor clad hero Rescue again, against his better judgment, hires a woman by the name of Bambi Arbogast to work for his fledgling company(Stark Resilient), and talks to War Machine, who was thinking about calling it quits. The Hammer girls(the daughter and granddaughter of longtime and currently dead Iron Man foe Justin Hammer)stage a terrorist attack in Japan and have their personal armor-clad creation, Detroit Steel, make the save. After seeing this, the Pentagon decides to go into business with the Hammer girls instead of Stark Resilient, which could be the death blow to Tony's fledgling company. This issue ends with Stark and War Machine deciding to head to Japan to confront the Hammers and Detroit Steel, since Tony is sure the terrorist attack was staged.
What I Thought: Well, here's the problem... This is the first Iron Man comic I've read since Civil War(after which Tony became my persona non-grata in comics), so there was A LOT here that I didn't get/know/understand. The artwork was BEAUTIFUL, but I was a bit over my head storywise. The fact that this was the third part of a six part story didn't help matters either! But regardless, I'll give this series at least 6 to 9 months before I decide whether to stay with it or to drop it.
Score: 5 1/2 out of 10. But that score probably would have been much higher if I had read the prior two issues. As I always say, don't put too much faith into my scores, they're only one man's opinion.Pretty, pretty pictures...
Is that a Pretty, Pretty Pizza reference from King of The Hill or am I over thinking it?
ReplyDeleteHA!!! You're close actually JT! There was an episode from season 3 called Pretty, pretty dresses(the one where Bill was trying to kill himself before he resorted to cross dressing), which is where I lifted that quote from. My sister actually picked up the KotH season 3 DVD for me, so I've been watching the episodes from that season a lot!
