Tomorrow is Wednesday, which means it's time to go Comic Gazing! You know, this is probably my favorite weekly post, because it includes minimal work for me(always a plus!), and it usually garners pretty good comments from the old X-Maniacs. If I could I'd do a Comic Gazing post every day of the week, but let's face it, that really doesn't make any sense... Anyway, onto the world of comics! While Marvel's comic books have become quite interesting lately, DC's have been going in the opposite direction... Will DC turn things around week? Will Marvel continue to roll? Let's see how much money I'll be spending this week, and which company will be gaining the most of that money!
Birds of Prey #2: Do I even need to say anything here? Interest Level: 10 out of 10.
Brightest Day #4: Interest Level: 4 out of 10.
REBELS #17: Yay, a new issue of REBELS! This is one of the few DC books I'm still looking forward to nowadays... Interest Level: 10 out of 10.
Age of Heroes #2: The first issue didn't impress, but I'm willing to give this mini another shot. Interest Level: 5 1/2 out of 10.
Black Widow #3: I just finished reading the first two issues of this series(reviews tomorrow!), and I have to say I'm looking forward to this one. Interest Level: 8 out of 10.
Dark Wolverine #87: After how things turned out for Daken in the last issue of Wolverine Origins, this comic should show us where Marvel intends on taking the Daken character. Interest Level: 9 1/2 out of 10.
Deadpool #24: Interest Level: 7 1/2 out of 10.
New Avengers #1: This one should be brutal... Really, really brutal... Interest Level: 1 out of 10.
Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z Update #2: I do loves me Marvel Handbooks! Interest Level: 7 out of 10.
Ultimate X Comics #3: This series has been one hell of a surprise... In a good way! Interest Level: 8 out of 10.
Only 10 comics this week, but the numbers are heavily tilted towards Marvel, with seven of those ten comics coming from the House of Ideas. Granted two of the three DC books should be really good, but Marvel is the runaway winner for the battle for my bucks this week(for the second week running). All in all, this should be a good week of reading for me. Avengers Assemble!
Avengers Assemble, Long Live the Legion... can I get at least ONE comic line? :P
ReplyDeleteI just made a "Comic Gazing"-like post for my own blog, and I have to agree...it's pretty fun! But yeah, I guess doing that every day wouldn't be all too practical, haha...
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how to feel about New Avengers. On the one hand, (adjectiveless) Avengers #1 wasn't so bad...not perfect obviously, but better than Bendis's usual standard. So maybe this will surprise us too.
On the other hand, of course, is the fact that New Avengers Finale was apparently god-awful. So yeah, I'm not quite sure what to think about this one.
Well, since I'm back on a Marvel kick, we'll be going with Avengers Assemble! If I switch back over to the DCU then it's back to Long Live the Legion! See, you can tell which company I'm enjoying more by my sign-off phrase! As for you JT, hows about Flame On! No? What about SNIKT! then? Hmm, I actually kind of like that last one...
ReplyDeleteYeah, compared to doing reviews and stuff, a solicit post is cake! I'll have to swing over there when I'm done commenting to see what you're up to Marc.
Oh, I'd go so far as to say that I liked Avengers #1. But the problem with New Avengers #1 to me is the line-up... BENDIS can't write dialogue for Luke Cage or Wolverine to save his life, and he writes Spidey the same way as he writes Ultimate Spidey(in a word, annoyingly!)toss the Thing into the equation, and I can see New Avengers #1 as having some of the worst dialogue EVER! I shudder at the prospect of reading that issue...
Yay!!! It's comic gazing at X-Man's Comic Blog!!! Wooo. The ONLY two comics I'm looking forward to are BOP and Black Widow. I'm glad you FINALLY got around to reading Black Widow. Will we be seeing a review soon? *rubs chin*
ReplyDeleteFalisha doesn't read in parenthesis apparently X so don't mind her discretion :P
ReplyDeleteHm... I like Flame on but it's kinda backwards.... I don't know, I got screwed on the sign off line.
Screw you, I just read faster than necessary sometimes my bad!! Lol.
ReplyDeleteYou'll regret putting me out there sir. :-P
HA!!!! I don't know JT, I'm sure Falisha's gonna get even with you for that remark... What about Flame Off! Hmm, nah...
ReplyDeleteLol, he knows this X, he knows.
ReplyDeleteX! I agree with everyone in saying that I enjoy your weekly Comic Gazing. The only thing I enjoy more is when you do 4-5 reviews a night giving us the 411 on our favorite comics! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteIn regards to New Avengers, I am 50/50 in that I liked the series until you started pointing out to me the annoying dialogue that Bendis uses. I also cannot wait for your review on BoP (or Teen Titans).
JT, why not trying starting a sign on saying/greeting to start all of your posts? Flame on could be used, you would just have to work it in.
I actually have a sign on line Cole, I "Welcome everyone to my Red Hood", while lame It's become my favorite thing haha, I just need a sign off line better than "You've just been gobsmacked!" (Which I stole from X-Man75)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words Cole! I shall continue to strive to deliver as many shoddy reviews as I can over the course of the week! Of this I swear! :P
ReplyDeleteI still say Flame Off! would make a... okay sign off JT. Either that or just grab something totally random. That's how I started the Long Live the Legion thing. I just felt like yelling something random at the end of my posts, and viola, there ya go!
Haha, did you MEAN Viola or did you mean to type voila? :P And thanks for the advice guys, I may just try random stuff out and see what sticks,
ReplyDeleteAhh, the human spell checker strikes again!
ReplyDeleteLol you know it, If I were a villain I'd be Admiral Spellcheck, only because Admiral sounds cooler thain Captain.
