Tis Wednesday, which means it's time for yet another installment of Comic Gazing... You know, I need a snazzy opening line like JT has... Hmm, I'll have to think on that... Normally I'd just steal his idea, but saying welcome to X's Red Hood doesn't exactly have the same impact(or make a lick of sense for that matter...). Oh well, something will come to mind... Probably. Anyway, this post is supposed to be about what comics I'll be picking up this week, or something along those lines, so I'd best get to that, right?
Batman & Robin #12: I think I enjoyed the last issue... Yep, after a quick check I did indeed like the last issue! See, those reviews I put up here DO come in handy! Anyway, while I'm hoping I'll like this issue of B&R, I'm not going to hold my breath... Interest Level: 6 out of 10.
Brightest Day #1: Eh, I'm just not all that in to this storyline. Yes, I know, that's practically sacrilege, but I'm dealing with a major case of DC x-over burn out... I mean, at least give me a few months to let Blackest Night set in before we jump head long into our next major x-over... Interest Level: 8 out of 10.
JSA All-Stars #6: I've yet to read issue #5, so I don't have too much to say here. Interest Level: 7 out of 10.
Secret Six #21: I haven't read like the past 3 issues of this series, so yeah, I should probably get to that pretty soon! Interest Level: 5 out of 10.
Superman: War of the Supermen #1: Umm, remember what I said about Brightest Day following too closely on the heels of Blackest Night? The same holds true here... The last part of the Last Stand of New Krypton x-over came out literally last week, and this week we're ALREADY heading into the next major Superman x-over... Damn DC, learn to pace yourself a little!!! Interest Level: 8 out of 10.
Uncanny X-Men #524: I'm not in the least interested in this comic, and as a matter of fact, I probably won't even bother to read it. It's one of my subscription titles, so I can't not get it, but I could care LESS about this whole Second Coming storyline. Interest Level: 0 out of 10.
Umm, that's it?!? Wow, this was probably the most depressing looking pull list I've ever put together! Not only am I hardly picking up any books(usually I get more then twice this number of new books in a week!)I'm not excited for any of these comics. Man, I hope things pick up next week...
Lmao @ you stealing my opening line. Is this cause I jacked Gobsmacked? :P
ReplyDeleteI picked up Batman & Robin which has been surprisingly good as of late to me, Brightest Day, Red Robin (Your review show pop up this weekend) and War of The Supermen even though I know nothing of the back story. By the way, way to screw DC by not announcing their crushing win even though you usually announce which company gets more of ya cash :P
You've just been Gobsmacked :P
Well I need SOMETHING to use as an opening line... I mean I have a closing line, but an opening line is a different story... I'll have to troll around to see what I can steal and claim as my own! :P
ReplyDeleteEh, I was so depressed by this week's books, I didn't even care to say who won the battle for my buck this week... I mean the DC books didn't exactly bowl me over, so yeah, they won, but kind of my default...
Lol. I swear you guys are like the best of buds....like you've known each other for many years. It's cute! Okay enough of that.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have some books you're really not too hot about. I hope they turn out to be really good. At leave give you SOMETHING to talk about on your reviews. :)
Time to get X-Rated!!! Lmao nah, um.. Get ready for some X-Ratings :P Lol I like that actually lol.
ReplyDeleteHm... I can come up with a lot more. But I won't because...I like X Ratings lol.
I think the X-Men comics pretty much have a monopoly on corny X-related puns. Heck, they even try to show off the X when it's not at the beginning of the war (like in "Messiah CompleX"). All I know is that I'm x-static to see whatever you come up with!
ReplyDelete...yeah, that was awful. I'm sorry.
But speaking of X-Men, though, I'm still waiting for a Bizarro Uncanny X-Men review. One of these days, maybe...
Welcome to X-Rated?
ReplyDeleteBatman & Robin, Brightest Day and that's all the snappage for us this week. I'm forced to get Red Robin to finish off this cross-over arc thingy, and also getting Great Ten as it's awesome ;)
Nothing from Marvel, as it all looks lame, save for Electric Ant, and I don't think you need comic book versions of short stories...
Maybe a Green Hornet one from Dynamite, I'm not sure what's out this week from them...
Yeah, I think Marc's right, if I want an x-named way to start my posts, I should just look to Marvel, because they've used the letter x in just about every way imaginable! Maybe I'll just comb through my old X-Men comics until something catches my eye.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'll bother giving Uncanny the Bizarro treatment Marc, but I still fully intend on having Bizarro X-Man do a few New Avengers comics. Once I've got some spare time and have gotten through enough of my new books, that's definitely something I plan on trying out.
So it's a light week for you as well I see Nagash. At least you took care of that damned volcano so you know you'll be able to pick up whatever books you do decide on. :p
Yeah, there jus happened to be a bank holiday to delay my books by a day... Grumble.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered what exactly a bank holiday was... Are they just random days you guys get off, or are they actual holidays? I've heard the term before, but I'm unfamiliar as to what/why they are. Care to enlighten me Nagash?
ReplyDeleteThey're all holidays of some sort that banks take off, hence bank holiday. This one was May Day, first Monday of May, as the actual day is the first. It's just one of those things really...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind a few bank holidays here to be honest with you!
ReplyDeleteWell, there's only 8 a year, and some are days you get off anyway, like Christmas etc...
ReplyDeleteEh, I'll take what ever extra days off I can get!
