Overall- This issue dealt solely with the funeral of the Wasp. Hank Pym, freshly back from his kidnapping by the Skrulls, has to deal with the funeral of his ex-wife, as well as learning about everything that has happened since he was abducted by the Skrulls. Basically, this issue had 5 full picture pages dealing with House of M, Civil War, Captain America's death, World War Hulk, and finally, Secret Invasion.
At the funeral, Pym gets up to speak and RIPS into Tony Stark, blaming him for Cap's death, as well as the death of Wasp... Well, that just made me even more of a fan of Pym! Thor finally gets up and helps Pym away from the podium, leaving with him. Besides that, Clint Barton curses Norman Osborn out at the church, and we close the issue with Norman standing menacingly in his office in Avengers Tower... OOOOK...
What more can I really say that I haven't said already? Not to sound callous, but the death of the Wasp was a "who cares" moment for me. I just never really cared much about her character, so her death has very little impact on me. She started out as an airhead sidekick for Pym, turned into an Avenger, basically due to her proximity to Pym, married Pym, was abused by Pym, divorced Pym, got into relationships with many other Avengers, suddenly was made Avengers chairwoman, went back to working in the background, and died.
If this issue was designed to get me emotional about Wasp's death, it failed miserably. I didn't care about her in life and I still don't care about her in death. Anyway, this is(mercifully)the last issue of this series written by Brian Bendis, which is good, because I'm just SO tired of Brian now... Next issue heralds the beginning of the far superior Dan Slott becoming the writer of the Mighty Avengers. I fully expect Dan to turn this comic around for me. For a score, I'll give this issue a 4 1/2 out of 10. All this comic really did was remind me about all of the things I've hated about the Marvel Universe since Brian Bendis took over the Avengers franchises.
