How can you possibly rationalize passing a bill that forces people to register with the government because some of their ilk did something wrong? I could never imagine a legitimate democratic nation forcing a certain people(by race, religion or creed)to register with the government because somebody who looks or believes how they do did something wrong. It IS dumb! The only way I could even try to rationalize it is by saying that the Marvel Universe has always had institutionalized racism against mutants since nearly the beginning, so that hatred is just ingrained so deeply that it's at the root of most of the normal people in the Marvel U. Sure it's a poor excuse, but that seems to be the thought process there.

Okay, I can respect that. I look at Jean's actions as a shortcut, an ends to a means(she doesn't have the time to explain herself to Derek, so she makes him listen to her), but I'm an unrepentant Jean fan, so it's hard for me to find fault in her actions. Sure she could have tried to convince Derek verbally to not make a break for it once he woke up, but say he panicked and ran before she could try to reason with him? But once again, to me, Jean can do no wrong!x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-47852306546811785272010-07-26T08:47:17.676-04:002010-07-26T08:47:17.676-04:00It's stupid, because it, well, it is. End of. ...It's stupid, because it, well, it is. End of. You don't get that, with, let's do terrorism because Marvel is fixating on blowing up places. There aren't laws to arrest every one of a certain religious denomination, even though some cause huge amounts of death.
It's just, stupid...

Exact quote from your own scan: "Time to wake up now. You want to trust us. It'll make things a lot easier that way."
She's making him trust them. Right there, immediately I don't like her.Nagashhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00317832910354675201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-9048528150780562352010-07-24T23:48:45.134-04:002010-07-24T23:48:45.134-04:00Yup, if you develop mutant powers in the Ultimate ...Yup, if you develop mutant powers in the Ultimate Marvel U, then you are indeed guilty, regardless of whether you did something or not. The justification is what happened in Ultimatum, but it's that regular, old, "Mutants are BAD!" mentality.

Well I don't know... All Jean really did was speak to Derek telepathically. Sure she took a peek inside of Joe's mind to see what he was going to do with Derek, and whether or not Derek would be safe going back to Joe, but I don't think I'd classify her actions towards Derek as evil or abusive.x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-35462071994069887512010-07-24T05:59:15.344-04:002010-07-24T05:59:15.344-04:00So they're just as stupid as normal. So if you...So they're just as stupid as normal. So if you're born with something you're now guilty as charged? And there aren't humans who protest against this?
Urgh, there's stories in that, right there. But no, it has to be typical action powers beating people up...

And I don't mean that - Jean was using her powers on Derek himself. That isn't a way to endear the character as a good guy. Seriously, that's irresponsible power use, and she should be locked up. Derek on the other hand tried to help people, so yeah.Nagashhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00317832910354675201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-57523281894805607992010-07-23T23:31:34.840-04:002010-07-23T23:31:34.840-04:00Well, in the Ultimate Marvel world, Magneto pretty...Well, in the Ultimate Marvel world, Magneto pretty much destroyed all of New York City and went on a rampage of epic proportions during the hideous Ultimatum storyline. After that business, the higher-ups in the Ultimate Marvel U decided that mutants were too dangerous to be left to their own devices, so they are legally obligated to turn themselves over to SHIELD for safe keeping, or are to be shot on sight. So yeah, being a mutant in the proper Marvel U might suck, but it REALLY sucks in the Ultimate Marvel U!

Jean had her reasons for messing with Derek's brother's mind in this issue. It was either that or let Derek's brother alert SHIELD that he was a mutant, which would probably end poorly for everybody involved. But you know me, I'll always make excuses for Jean! :-)x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-20277039119743065512010-07-23T19:30:39.616-04:002010-07-23T19:30:39.616-04:00Two things. And two, 'Jean' is using mind control on another good guy. Nice one, really like her for things like that [/sarcasm]Nagashhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00317832910354675201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-75926112175179551882010-07-23T17:53:31.327-04:002010-07-23T17:53:31.327-04:00No problem Kello!
