Wait until you get up to the Bunn Venom books... Blah. Hey, soon you'll have to change the name of the blog! :D

Agreed SO MUCH with that! Almost ANY other writer would have done the obvious, Spidey faces some of his deadliest foes, and thinks back on his career while fighting them, story. Contrasting Peter and Andy's lives and the way they adjusted to their new found powers was fantastic. They were very similar in school, and they were even rather similar after getting their powers with their change in attitude. But Peter had the Ben thing(and a different era). Alpha... Well, I'm still not going to ruin it. x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-90219779178469968662012-10-15T08:40:50.678-04:002012-10-15T08:40:50.678-04:00I'm current on everything else, but I'm st...I'm current on everything else, but I'm still like 15 issues behind in Spidey land! With ASM and "Venom" coming out multiple times a month, I'm having trouble getting through the backlog!

I just thought it was really clever. I was surprised when I read other reviews that people thought it was only meh. I thought it was the perfect way to celebrate Peter's 50th anniversary. I think a lot of authors would've had him face a lot of his foes, like some sort of Sinister Six of Deadly Foes mash-up event. But, instead, Slott has him really reflect on who he is and why he is the way he is. I mean, that's great stuff!JWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18384937330661711685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-38061504709164685072012-10-15T00:00:59.566-04:002012-10-15T00:00:59.566-04:00I love when you pop up with these comments later J...I love when you pop up with these comments later JW, you remind me of how much I enjoyed these issues, especially this one. Like you guys said, Alpha is what Peter could've been without Uncle Ben's words, and I think that's an awesome concept that was executed perfectly in this issue. The one-liners and jokes, the showboating, even the cocky attitude, it's all stuff Peter does but amplified to the max for Alpha.Jason Toddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07796190974001777556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-45196312202672397862012-10-14T23:44:40.473-04:002012-10-14T23:44:40.473-04:00This comic... The fact that Alpha didn't simply become a Peter Parker clone, but was kind of a jerk, was fantastic. I mean I hate to say it, but if I was suddenly a superhero, at Alpha's age? I'd probably be even worse than he was! :D I better stop now lest I ruin the story on you, but yeah, loved everything about this issue/story.x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-29349926479260935712012-10-14T22:57:47.180-04:002012-10-14T22:57:47.180-04:00Loved it. I mean, I just feel like Slott is working on a lot of levels here, using Alpha to really explore the whole myth of Peter Parker and Spider-Man, allowing us to see the Millennial version of his origin story. Will Alpha learn that "with great power comes great responsibility?" Andy might be responding to his powers differently, doing all the stuff that Peter wouldn't do, but will he learn that lesson? It's a great question and I can't wait to see the answer.JWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18384937330661711685noreply@blogger.com
