She kind of looks like Caiera, mother of Bruce Banner's alien son (as the Hulk of course), Skaar. But with a red face and Green Lantern-esque armor. Sin, teh Green lantern of Sector 616.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-15392815390278328432011-04-08T09:31:14.431-04:002011-04-08T09:31:14.431-04:00Someone told me that Fear Itself is really suppose...Someone told me that Fear Itself is really supposed to take place after the next Thor story arc, which hasn't finished yet and supposedly sets up more of the tension between Thor and Odin. It seems they rushed this series out onto store shelves a little too early, just so they could capitalize on the movies coming out.

I agree about Civil War, that's why I said "anymore"...CW was five years ago now, and there hasn't been a single great opening issue for an event since!Marchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10558378521891430225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-86035727544197526122011-04-07T21:18:41.144-04:002011-04-07T21:18:41.144-04:00I was under the impression Odin was still dead, so...I was under the impression Odin was still dead, so imagine my surprise to see him running around in this comic, Marc! Great point about Thor's first confrontation with Odin too. When Thor stood up for humanity, it SHOULD have been a big deal, instead Odin was like, "Bah, weak." and Thor went to have dinner...

I'd actually point to Civil War as an event comic that started off masterfully. I may have HATED the way it ended, but that first issue was full of story development, action, shocking twists, everything that this issue was lacking, imo.x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-42023566678245172502011-04-07T20:20:51.747-04:002011-04-07T20:20:51.747-04:00The thing that bugged me most was what went on bet...The thing that bugged me most was what went on between Thor and Odin. Their relationship has always been antagonistic, but I don't think Fraction did a good job of showing what it was specifically about the events in this issue that pushed things to the breaking point. I also think Thor's whole "god or man" struggle was addressed too off-handedly...it should have been a big moment for the character to tell his father "man," but it really wasn't.

That said, my feelings about this are more positive than negative. The overall premise of Fear Itself isn't really that strong (some creepy old man comes back from the dead so he can...scare people? uh...), but this issue made pretty much the most of it. Nothing earth-shattering happened, but nothing ever does in these events anymore, so I wasn't that let down.Marchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10558378521891430225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-85931184541431594902011-04-06T21:42:38.659-04:002011-04-06T21:42:38.659-04:00The NYC riot still bugs me because we have no idea...The NYC riot still bugs me because we have no idea what exactly the original complaints of the people were. I mean, were they angry about Shadowland? Was it a real world thing? Was it something else? So that kind of got me off on the wrong foot. Plus it was BEFORE Sin got the hammer, making it even more bizarre. As for Tony, I recall him mentioning to Thor that he was going to rebuild Asgard(like you said, prob in an issue of IM), but the way he said it was just weird. You had Steve bemoaning the riot, and all of sudden Tony's like, "Hey, you know what's a good idea? Let's build Asgard!" and everybody was like, “Great idea!!” It just seemed so out of place. Even though this issue didn't bowl me over, I'm still confident Matt Fraction is going to hit it out of the ballpark. Anyway, we ALL know it's gonna blow away anything DC puts out this summer!x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-46782913380098258392011-04-06T21:09:51.785-04:002011-04-06T21:09:51.785-04:00the point of the riot in nyc was to show the level...the point of the riot in nyc was to show the level of fear and paranoia already gripin the world even before the god of fear begins his rampage
and no that was not the caus of tony decideing to rebulild asgard he was planing to already they showed him looking over desgin plans for it in one if the previous issues of invincible ironman
i loved this first issue and im very optimistic that this could be the best marvel event yet :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
