Tony Stark went down the same road after Civil War(turned on many of his friends, always thought he knew what was best, etc), and he wound up being nicely redeemed, so I'm betting that Lord Summers gets the same treatment. Eventually... Maybe when Jean FINALLY returns.

I've honestly always liked Cyclops up until the tail end of Morrison's New X run. I'd always have him listed as one of my top 5 X-Men, but now, forget it!x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-59866194787737649462011-03-09T19:23:25.496-05:002011-03-09T19:23:25.496-05:00Maybe they're purposefully making Cyclops into...Maybe they're purposefully making Cyclops into kind of a dictator so they can redeem his character a little ways down the road...you know, the whole "absolute power corrupts absolutely" motif. I think that's a legitimate approach to take with the character, to be honest, who's pretty much flatlined in terms of development since the whole "Ages of Apocalypse" debacle.

There were a couple brief blips where he was interesting for a short period of time (Astonishing X-Men and the BKV miniseries come to mind), but other than that, nothing. Kind of sad since he was always one of my favorites as a kid.Marchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10558378521891430225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-64164016102506233732011-03-09T14:28:03.044-05:002011-03-09T14:28:03.044-05:00"He cheated on Jean while she was still alive..."He cheated on Jean while she was still alive with Diamond Bitch." HA!!! The way you added Diamond Bitch in there so seamlessly had me laughing, Marc! Yup, that was what I was getting at. Jean was still alive, and Lord Summers was mentally getting it on with Emma. What a jerk...

As for the dictator thing, ask yourself, is he acting more like Prof. Xavier or Magneto? Magneto would do whatever he wanted to do with his underlings, regardless of their thoughts. Xavier would always touch base with his "generals" Cyclops, Storm, Jean, etc. Lord Summers has Emma in his ear, but that's the only person he listens to anymore. He expects when he says jump the rest of the mutants will happily ask, "How high?"x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-37084131075233156252011-03-09T11:31:55.132-05:002011-03-09T11:31:55.132-05:00He cheated on Jean while she was still alive with ...He cheated on Jean while she was still alive with Diamond Bitch. This was during Grant Morrison's run on New X-Men, circa 2003. Jean actually walked in on them, although granted, they were doing it psychically, not physically.Marchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10558378521891430225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-60949064281718509582011-03-09T02:36:24.445-05:002011-03-09T02:36:24.445-05:00..... im really not seeing how hes being a dictato........ im really not seeing how hes being a dictator.... oh well
when did he cheat on jean while she was still alive?
and with who?
and are u sure she wasent dead when he cheated or did he thank she was deadAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-45955835403851789902011-03-08T23:42:07.042-05:002011-03-08T23:42:07.042-05:00I actually really liked the way Man-Thing was port...I actually really liked the way Man-Thing was portrayed in this issue, Marc. Plus I was quite pleased to see Jennifer Kale pop up. Eh, I've never had a problem with Shaw, so his appearance didn't bug me. Diamond Bitch could work, although you'd think a guy by the name of Lord Summers would have a woman with a slightly more refined name! :D

Hmm... I don't know if I can pinpoint the exact moment I started seriously hating Lord Summers... I guess it was a whole mess of things that added up. He went from being a competent leader to a dictator. Plus the whole cheating on Jean thing really pissed me off...x-man75https://www.blogger.com/profile/10292719455945603075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8091466292216433701.post-16052952266911621382011-03-08T17:17:05.595-05:002011-03-08T17:17:05.595-05:00HOLY CRAP SERIOUSLY DIAMOND BITCH IS PERFECT

I'll have to check that out, as I think Man-Thing is awesome.

The presence of Sebastian Shaw in the X-titles at the moment makes me feel even more justified in not reading those books right now. Man, how I hate him! And as far as a nickname for Emma goes, I've been calling her "Diamond Bitch" for years.Marchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10558378521891430225noreply@blogger.com
